Bouldering – 1 Hour Session

2 sessions

Bouldering entry for minimum 1 Hour Session (does not include access to Rope Climbing Walls). Please note: under 14's must be booked in with a parent/guardian to supervise them. One adult can legally supervise two Under 14 boulderers at one time. Supervising adults are welcome to book in for Bouldering also. If not, they must book in for a free 'Supervising Under 14's' ticket. Supervisors must be prepared to sign a Bouldering Novice Entry form on arrival stating that they are happy to take the responsibility of the young people they take in to the Climbing Wall. Climbing shoes must be worn on the climbing wall and bouldering areas. Equipment hire will be available on the day from reception, at a cost of £6 per hire (includes all required items). This is availability dependant. If capacity allows, climbers may be able to continue to boulder past their slot end time.

Roped Climbing Wall for Experienced Climbers

2 sessions

Entry to the Climbing Wall for Roped Climbing. Competent Belayers with ropework and belay knowledge can accompany a maxiumum of two novice climbers per visit. Competent Belayers that arrive with Novice Climbers must be prepared to fill out a Novice Entry form stating that they are happy to take responsibility for the participants they take into the wall. Novice Climbers must be accompanied by a Competent Belayer. Competency will be evaluated by TX Climbing Instructors. Competent Belayers aged 14-17 are able to climb without adult supervision provided they have been evaluated by TX Climbing Staff, parental consent obtained and they have been issued with a 14-17 Climber card. 14-17 Climbers cannot be responsible for novice climbers. Each 14-17 climber must carry their card on them at all times and have it ready to show receptio staff on arrival and at anytime during their session. Children can climb with a parent belaying provided the parent is a competent belayer. Adults attending intending only to belay will gain free entry, but still have to complete an online booking with the 'Competent Adult Belayer accompanying Novice Climbers' ticket. Please note this information within your booking or at reception on arrival. Climbing Sessions are for a minimum of 2 hours. Climbers are welcome to stay beyond this time depending on the number of climbers within the centre. Equipment hire is available from reception or on booking at a cost of £6 per hire (includes all required items). Hire is dependent on availability.

5-7 year old Fun Club

Does your child want to try some climbing activities? These fun sessions are for 5 to 7 year old's, allowing very young climbers to reach the top of their first climbs. Parents are welcome to watch the action from the viewing gallery as anyone under the age of 8 must have an adult somewhere in the building at all times. Fun Club aims: to develop climbing movement skills and improve levels of ability to learn climbing rope-work and how to use equipment appropriately to work as a team, communicate with, and trust a climbing partner to provide a record of personal achievement to point the way to further disciplines and challenges in climbing beyond this course.

Climbing with an Instructor followed by a packed lunch – a 2 hour introduction to climbing aimed at beginners who have limited previous climbing experience and would like to give it a go! Session includes all equipment hire and instruction as well as a packed lunch provided. Lunch will be served in our café after the climb session. An hour and a half of climbing and Bouldering with a TX instructor! Parties are for groups of up to 6 people - minimum age is 5 years old. This booking covers the cost of 6 participants to take part in the hour and a half of activities and includes the full equipment hire required for the sports.

Climbing Party of 12 – CARRARA

An hour and a half of climbing and Bouldering with a TX instructor! Instructor ratio is 1:6, this party has been confirmed with two instructors and will cover 12 climbers into the wall - minimum age is 5 years old. This booking covers the cost of 12 participants to take part in the hour and a half of activities and includes the full equipment hire required for the sports.

Climbing Taster – Youth Horizons

Climbing with an Instructor for a 2 hour introduction to climbing aimed at beginners who have limited previous climbing experience and would like to give it a go! Session includes all equipment hire required Guests under 8 years old are welcome to be booked onto the class, however a parent/guardian must remain at the centre during the 2 session.

Easter Senders (NICAS)

Are you currently working through NICAS and would like to keep up with your regular coaching over the Easter holidays? This class is a coached climbing and bouldering session for young climbers with previous climbing and belaying experience that are currently enrolled in our NICAS scheme. Learn to Climb/Belay

A beginners introduction to climbing for two adults (18+). This lesson cannot be increased to acommodate more participants. You will learn how to: attach yourself to the end of a rope using a figure of eight knot, ready to climb. belay another climber using a belay device. At the end of this course, and upon approval from your instructor, you should have learned the essential skills to enable you to come climbing and to belay for other climbers without supervision. Your instructor may suggest you come back for a one-hour private lesson with your climbing partner, in order to tie-up any loose ends. Please note: no refunds are available for cancelled sessions, however we are happy to transfer your booking to an alternative date and time if you request it 48 hours in advance of the lesson date. NICAS Level 1 & 2

NICAS® (National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes) are an introduction to climbing and provide a gateway to learning more and developing a love for the sport. NICAS level 1 - New Climber An entry level aimed at novices that recognises their ability to climb safely under supervision. Climbers will learn how to put on a harness, how to tie onto a rope and how to belay another climber as well as basic movement around the climbing and bouldering walls. Climbers in level 1 will be under the supervision of an instructor at all times. NICAS level 2 - Foundation Climber Aimed at promoting good practice in climbing and bouldering unsupervised on an artificial wall. Climbers will build on the experiences gained in level 1, and at the end of level 2 should potentially be independent tope rope climbers and boulderers. NICAS aims: to develop climbing movement skills and improve levels of ability to learn climbing rope-work and how to use equipment appropriately to develop risk assessment and risk management skills in the sport to work as a team, communicate with, and trust a climbing partner to provide a structure for development, motivation and improved performance to develop an understanding of the sport, its history and future challenges to provide a record of personal achievement to point the way to further disciplines and challenges in climbing beyond the scheme.

NICAS level 3 - Technical Climber A more advanced top-roping and bouldering award that focusses on developing technique and movement skills. This is aimed at ensuring a candidate possesses the knowledge and skill to climb and belay safely at any climbing facility (whether or not under supervision or with back-up) and operate in a responsible manner. Achievement at this level is broadly equivalent to a pass at GCSE. You will have already completed levels 1 & 2 and should already have your own logbook.

NICAS Level 4

NICAS® (National Indoor Climbing Award Schemes) are an introduction to climbing and provide a gateway to learning more and developing a love for the sport. NICAS level 4 - Lead Climber Concentrating on the skills required to lead climb proficiently. Aimed at developing a self-motivated climber who has a wide range of skills and has reached a high level of competence, with a desire to progress by identifying and setting goals. Level 4 climbers will have already completed level 3. There is not a lower age limit for entry into level 4, but to be allowed to take part you will need to have demonstrated to your level 3 instructor that you are ready to move on to this level.

TX Crushers

This climbing course is 1.5 hours of development coaching for climbers currently in NICAS or those who have finished it. This course is ideal for anyone looking to advance their climbing skills to coincide with their regular NICAS course and improve anything you are working on. Participants will be expected to work on fundamental climbing techniques up to advanced movement on the wall, including top rope, boulder, and lead (for those in NICAS 4 or above). We will also be introducing the importance of structured training by working through elements including technical, tactical, physical, and delving into the psychological elements of indoor rock climbing, helping young climbers start crushing their projects! Participants are welcome to enroll in crushers courses through invite only - this will be a formal discussion with the climbing instructor.

TX Youth Squad

TX Youth Squad is back! We have brought back our TX Youth Squad that helps young climbers work on and achieve their own personal climbing goals, whether that is competition climbing, improving onsite grade, practising redpoint skills, or just climbing lots of fun routes! Participants are welcome to enroll in crushers courses through invite only - this will be a formal discussion with the climbing instructor.
