Bowling Park junior parkrun is a free, fun and friendly 2km event, taking place every Sunday at 9.00. It is open to all children aged 4 to 14, run by volunteers of all ages. Families are encouraged to take part with their children.
Join us for our summer social! New & old members are very welcome. We'll meet at Heart at 6pm & run up to Beckett Park for team games (TBC)! Depending on the weather, we'll hopefully have a picnic. East Holmes Field
The club run a parkrun league for members from April to October. Each month the club select a different local venue to visit and members complete the parkrun then go for coffee and a social chat at a local café afterwards. Scores from each event are collated together and based upon participants handicap style WAVA score – so 20 years olds compete evenly against 70-year-olds!
Becketts Park
We have shared use of the sports track and run a structured, fully coached run session for triathletes across the ability range. Expect a pre-run briefing, warm up, specific technique drills and a quality run work out. Coaches will guide you all the way and offer advice and feedback that will make a difference. You'll need to pay the additional £5.00 track fee at reception when you arrive. We are currently running two streams, a Gold Group and an Iron Group. Track: An explanation To make life easier the two streams are labelled "Gold" and "Iron". Both will run at the same time, starting at 7:30. Gold will target going faster over shorter distances e.g. 5k or 10k but is also appropriate for those running half and full marathons who want to to do some top end speed work. These sessions will be 1 hour long. Iron will focus on pace over distance and is appropriate for anyone contemplating a full distance triathlon e.g. Ironman Leeds, a half distance triathlon e.g. half Ironman, or a full or half marathon. We will be working on building a strong base with emphasis on pace consistency increasing distances over the next months before developing a faster pace. These sessions will be 1.5 hours long. Athletes do not have to commit to one stream or the other for the future as either may be appropriate on the day depending on where you are in your training plan. In addition, if you feel you want some more after the Gold session, you can join the Iron session for the last half hour which will be more consistent with a slightly easier pace from the Gold session but will also incorporate a cooldown at the end.
