London Social & Cultural Meetups

Welcome! We like to bring together like-minded people on social and cultural events. Giselle & Michelle run this group for people who enjoy walks (not hikes), museums, galleries, cinema, theatre, comedy, day trips, cultural festivals, and all sorts of similar things. We particularly like movies, photography, history and odd corners of London. We usually go to a pub or cafe at the end of each meetup so we can catch up and chat. If you want to see something specific, please contact us. (Please don’t post suggestions in the discussions area). There is no membership fee, instead we ask for a small pay-on-arrival amount in Cash per meetup to go towards the fee we pay to Meetup for running the group. We follow a '2 No-shows and out' policy to encourage people to change their RSVP if unable to make it (guests also count). A No-show is not turning up or only changing an RSVP to Not Going in the 8 hours prior. Please be thoughtful towards the people on the waiting list – they need a bit of notice to be able to attend. Thank you. Neither of the organisers of this group are responsible for your safety or the safety of your belongings whilst attending any of our meetups. All members must look after themselves on all the group's events. Welcome to London Social & Cultural Meetups Michelle & Giselle PS: You can now also find us on Facebook: 'London Social and Cultural Meetups'

Social Buddies (Middx Area)

Thu
📅 27 Aug 2026
📍 HA4 8AQ · Harrow postcode area

Are you looking to improve your social life and make some new friends? Then come along to Social Buddies! Social Buddies is a lively, fun, social club for the 45+ age group with many events each month, mainly in the Middx area. The group has two aims. Firstly for members to attend events, make new friends and have a great time! Secondly for members to suggest and host events if this is something you would like to do. If there's something you enjoy doing or somewhere you like to go you can be sure others will be interested too. The more events members suggest the more choice we can have on the calendar! So don't be shy let us have your ideas! We rely on all members to make the group a success! Regular events include quizzes, pub nights, meals, live music/tribute bands, comedy nights, theatre, cinema, coffee mornings, breakfast get-togethers, bingo, craft events, days out in London and walks to name a few. There is an annual membership charge of £10 which runs from 1st March each year, with payment due by 20th February. This helps to cover the cost of MeetUp, bank charges and admin costs. New members will pay pro rata depending on when you join the group (to align with the March payment). Details will be provided in your payment request message which will be sent after your 8 week trial period. When requesting to join: Please use your full name (including surname). We need your surname to identify who has made a bank transfer or paypal payment; whether it be your membership subscription or payment for an event - as without this we have no idea who the payment is from! A recent photo of yourself (clearly showing your face) as your profile picture. This helps members put a face to a name at events and know who to look out for. UNFORTUNATELY FAILURE TO USE THE CORRECT DETAILS MAY RESULT IN YOUR MEMBERSHIP REQUEST BEING DECLINED - SORRY! We look forward to meeting you at an event soon. Don't sit at home on your own - come out and have some fun with Social Buddies!

Once Upon A Sketch: Weekly Children’s Illustration

Wed
📍 EC1A 9HP

Calling all aspiring illustrators. Whether you're building a children's illustration portfolio or just want to stay creative with weekly prompts, come draw with us. We meet online every week on Google Meet for one hour of focused drawing time. Each month, we use one image from classic children’s illustration as a springboard for creating something new, in your own voice and style. Weekly prompts based on that image help spark ideas, encourage exploration, and keep creativity flowing. 🖍️ How it works: A monthly image from a classic children’s illustration anchors your work. Example: An image from 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' → your month-long project might be: – A tea party scene – A custom-designed tea set – A tiger illustration or any other idea it inspires! Weekly prompts to warm up, experiment, or build toward a portfolio piece. Example: Draw a tiger Design a teapot Illustrate your favourite hot drink One-hour sessions – 10 min: Hello + warm-up prompt – 45 min: Drawing time – 5 min: Optional sharing + goodbyes 👋 Good to know: This is a peer-led group—I’m not a teacher, just an illustrator working on my own portfolio. All styles and skill levels are welcome. While prompts are inspired by children's illustration, your artwork doesn’t have to be. Just keep it PG-rated and respectful. Join in to explore new ideas, and draw with gentle accountability. ✅ DOs: – Be kind to yourself and others – Focus on progress, not perfection 🚫 DON’Ts: – Copy others’ work – Share distressing or non–PG content – Promote products or services—we keep the hour focused on art Whether you're sketching digitally or with crayons and paper, come join a welcoming space to stay creative and consistent. Let’s sketch our stories, one image at a time 💖

BLACK FEMALE FRIENDSHIP

Fri
📍 SE23 2AJ

I decided to start this group as I was looking to bring together black females for authentic and genuine friendships. It's as simple as that really but it will be so rewarding, because just having one friend can bring you so much joy. As we grow older friendships change, as do circumstances, our girlfriend circle gets smaller and smaller.. until we're left with that one slightly unreliable friend. So I'm looking to bring together a group of black or mixed females, on a first come basis, to go out to places of interest - mainly black events, but non black also, wine bars, restaurants, birthdays, holiday & weekends away, cinema, shopping, theatre, jazz festivals anything goes!! So now, after reading all this and you still want to meet more women like you, then please join. Also note, our meetups will generally be held over the weekends as this is most best for most people and the weekend is the best time to have some fun....Stay blessed.

Please note that two No Shows will result in removal from the Group (which no one wants). If there is a waitlist of over 20, one No Show will result in removal, so updating your invite is required.
