This group is for anyone interested in Buddhism or anyone simply wishing to try out Buddhist meditation in a relaxed and friendly setting.  Sessions are led by experienced meditators who give an introduction to tranquillity meditation to help develop a calm and peaceful state of mind.  This meditation technique is common to all Buddhist schools and our particular transmission is from the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism.  For those who would also like to find out more about Buddhist ideas and beliefs, our Discover Buddhism classes combine tranquillity meditation with a talk on a key topic.  After each class, there is also time to ask questions and talk to fellow meditators.  Every session is open to all and no booking is required.  More info on Sakya Buddhist Centre and Dechen

Bristol Nerds

Fri
📅 Every friday
📍 BS1 3LL

The goal of Bristol Nerds is to provide an active social community for people who are interested in things of the nerdy variety. We aim to hold one "Hangout" event every 1-2 months with a variety of ad-hoc events taking place around that. We have a very active WhatsApp and Discord communities around our events \(links in event descriptions\)\. Join for discussion and ad\-hoc events around all sorts of things\. Food \| Memes \| Sports \| Boardgames \| Books \| Many more\.\. FAQ What counts as being a Nerd? As silly as it sounds absolute anything! We've had all sorts of nerds join us over the years. All you really need is a willingness to engage with everyone else non-judgementally. If you aren't into anime/gaming/whatever thats fine. What can I expect from events? Our hangout events are primarily free style socializing events in which you arrive and can talk to anyone. Please keep in mind there are rules you should be aware of before attending - ( We take the safety and comfort of all members very seriously, you should treat everyone you speak to as humans. That means zero tolerance to hatred or creepy behaviours. How do I join the social communities? Most events will have social links, we dont have them here due to bots. We have a discord server and a set of WhatsApp's. Some events only appear in WhatsApp/Discord so if you are really keen to get fully involved you will want to join those. We have a variety of different WhatsApps for different topics so remember to browse the community and join all groups that apply to you. What if I feel very shy/anxious about attending? Dont worry this is (unsurprisingly) quite common amongst nerds/introverts. Everyone attends their first meetup at some point and it is generally a bit nerve wracking. The good news is once you've done it once it gets much much easier. Mainly remember you aren't under p

Bristol Childfree Women’s Meetup

Fri
📅 21 Aug 2026
📍 BS2 8EJ

This is a group for women who have chosen not to have children, where you can connect, share experiences and make real friends.  It's about celebrating our freedom and the choices we have made whilst respecting the choices of others.  Women of all ages are welcome. We have a regular monthly drinks meetup, plus a variety of other events organized by and for members. Why join us: You may be new to Bristol... You may have just heard that the last of your core friends is pregnant...  You may be feeling like your existing friends are just not as available to do stuff. You may be exhausted with justifying to everyone why you're not having babies! In this group you can be yourself, knowing we are all childfree and 'get it'.  The paths that bring us to childfree are many and varied but we are united by positively embracing it. Please note this is not a platform for bashing parents or to be anti-babies/children.  Let's also be respectful of those who may be child-less not through choice. The Facebook Community (Bristol Childfree Women | Facebook) Join our Facebook Community ‘Bristol Childfree Women’ where we share stories and experiences offering support and understanding.  It's also a great place from which to suggest and meet informally outside of the organised events here. Our WhatsApp groups We now have a few area based WhatsApp groups which are a great place for organising more impromptu meets for coffee or local events. These groups work on the basis that: Everyone contributes - the group is not 'owned' by anyone Be proactive - suggest things and don''t leave others in the lurch We’re all adults - respect other members and be generous East Briz no Kidz: South Bristol Footloose and Childfree: Glossy Rd and Childfree: Bath: https:/
