Philosophy by the river

Sun
📅 Every sunday
📍 CB1 1EW

If you're new to the area or are looking to expand your social circle with like minded people who enjoy thinking about life a little more deeply, then this is the group for you. Each week we choose a topic based on philosophy, psychology or sociology, to informally discuss and debate in a central Cambridge location (in summer by the river, and in winter in a coffee shop or pub). During the summer, the topic and venue are announced on Tues or Weds, once we have an idea of Sunday's weather forecast. Example areas we discuss include: How we construct our identity, consumerism, time, what is right or wrong, how to lead a good life, how society forces us to conform and 'fit in' We're always looking for interesting subjects to discuss, so do make suggestions. You don't have to lead the discussion but you're welcome to if you'd like.

East of England Polyamory

Sun
📅 28 Jun 2026
📍 PE29 3LG

“A warm and welcoming space for both the poly-curious and the poly-experienced" Discussion \| Learning \| Connection \| Community "It was great to meet a diverse group of people, all friendly and respectful, curious about each other’s experiences and views. Tracy led the group very effectively, keeping us on track with the right balance of stepping in and stepping back. It was great to have chats in smaller groups too, in the breakout rooms. Altogether a very positive start to this new group." (RACHEL, social+discussion event) East of England Polyamory is a friendly, curious community for anyone exploring – or wanting to explore – polyamory and ethical non-monogamy (ENM). You might be new to ENM and keen to chat with more experienced folks. You may already be walking the poly path, but seeking deeper understanding. You may be looking to expand your social circle and make new connections. We run IN-PERSON socials every month in different places across the East of England region, including Cambridge, St Ives, Huntingdon, Ely and Bury St Edmunds. These are usually pub or cafe meets, but in the warmer months we've had poly picnics in the park! We also offer regular social + discussion events ONLINE, on a different theme each month, open to English speakers anywhere. Topics have included jealousy, compersion, commitment and consent, and have welcomed ENM folks from around the UK, as well as Europe, the USA and Canada. Facilitated by an experienced and enthusiastic polyamorist who values curiosity, kindness, humour and emotional intelligence. Please note these are not dating events, although active participation, connection and community are all encouraged. Do come and join us – bring your curious questions, your ideas and insights to share. "Thanks for hosting another enjoyable, engaging and thought-provoking event. Super friendly and relaxed atmosphere to meet, connect with and learn from others." (DREW, social+discussion event) "Tracy‘s group was a lovely mix of people with various levels of experience in polyamory. It was engaging, with everybody contributing to the various questions that came up or that were introduced as themes. A very enjoyable hour and a half – I will be going again!"* (ANDREW, social+discussion event) Organiser profile: Hi! I'm Tracy – an outgoing, people-loving introvert who really enjoys facilitating group experiences on a theme and making them interactive and fun. I've been poly for 7+ years and love personal growth, deep discussion and all things poly. I look forward to welcoming you to our next event! Donations: Our monthly in-person social is our regular free community event, but we have now added a small fee of £4 to our online discussion events, in order to raise funds in advance to cover our annual costs. This should help to keep the group both affordable and sustainable to run. If anyone would like to donate to support the growth of this new ENM community, you are very welcome to do so using the PayPal account below. If you prefer a direct bank transfer, please email Tracy to request details: Many thanks! PAYPAL: Email: Reference: EE Poly Select Friends & Family to avoid fees.

Cambridge LGBTQ+ Group

Sat
📅 27 Jun 2026
📍 CB2 1RB

This is a community group intended to provide a space for LGBTQ+ people in or around Cambridgeshire to find or organise events for socialising in a relaxed and safe environment. Making connections with others in the community is something many of us find essential for our mental health and wellbeing, as well as simply having a lot of fun together, so we are truly thankful for those who volunteer their time to organise the events and groups on this page. If you have any suggestions or would like to use this Meetup group for an event that you’re planning, please message us on Meetup or email . The events on this page are centred around Cambridge, UK, although many are currently taking place online. To ensure the safety of group members, we aim to keep membership to those who have a connection to Cambridgeshire - this can be if you live, work, often visit, or have friends or family in the area. We welcome members from across the LGBTQ+ spectrum and believe that everyone has the right to feel safe and comfortable here, so we ask that all members please respect one another in all aspects of identity, including but not limited to:  Sexuality  Gender Identity  Pronouns  Race and Ethnicity  Religion and faith  Ability status  Age Members who do not abide by this request may be removed from the group.   Some of the events on this page are aimed at specific sub-sections of the LGBTQ+ community. We want to maintain these as safe spaces for the intended groups, while remaining inclusive and welcoming. If you join an event and your profile information conflicts with the parameters of the group, one of the organisers may send you a private message to check that the group is right for you. If your request to join a group or event is denied and you wish to discuss this, please message one of the administrators. This group is primarily intended for making friends and building community. Please keep it Safe For Work - it is not a dating or hookup site. Please be respectful in your use of the private messaging function. If you receive a message that makes you uncomfortable, please let us know. A note regarding profile information: the “say a bit about yourself” and “what do you hope to get from this Meetup” sections will continue to display the information you entered for the first group you joined. Please bear this in mind, as it means that if you introduce yourself as an LGBTQ+ person when joining this group, this information will be visible to any Meetup group you join in the future, unless you go into your profile and change it.

amBi – Cambridge’s Bi Social Community

Sat
📅 27 Jun 2026
📍 CB5 8DJ

amBi is not just another Meetup group that offers fun events. Our mission is nothing less than to build a vibrant and visible bisexual community. amBi is a diverse social group that hosts public and private events and activities for bis, our partners, and allies. The first amBi chapter was founded in 2006 in Los Angeles. Since then, the group has been spreading to other cities. The Cambridge chapter is new and growing fast. We host parties and get-togethers, share fun activities and explore our community. You do not have to be bi to join amBi. Friends and allies are welcome. JOINING amBi: amBi is a private Meetup, and you will need to be approved by an Organizer in order to join. We do this to protect the privacy and integrity of the group. Some of our members are closeted outside of amBi, and we want to protect their anonymity. Inside amBi, however, we are open and out to each other. Before Joining, please read THE THREE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP (all profiles must be for 1 person only): A real or real-sounding name. This is the name by which people in the group will refer to you. User names like "BiGurl23" or acronyms like "KFS" sound pretty silly when used in person. If you absolutely do not want people to know your real name, pick something. Just be prepared to answer to it. A photo clearly showing your FACE. This helps us find you when meeting at a busy venue and also helps people learn and remember who you are. Photos help prevent spam and make the group safer for everyone. As long as you have your meetup.com settings to "keep groups private," nobody outside of amBi can see your photo in association with the group. Answers to some basic profile questions. These questions aren't here to make you feel awkward. They enable us to make sure you are a real person who is here to meet and socialize with the bisexual community. Your answers also serve as your introduction to the group. Sorry, but incomplete profiles will not be approved for membership. We look forward to meeting you! PLEASE NOTE: While many of our members are single, amBi is not a hookup group. amBi is not a swingers' group. We are here to help build a community in Cambridge that is welcoming, safe, diverse, vibrant, and visible. If you are here only looking to arrange dates and/or sexual encounters, we are definitely not the Meetup group for you. Please also note that posting any sexually explicit photos will result in immediate removal from the group. Thanks! A WORD ON LABELS: amBi uses "bisexual" as an umbrella term for people who recognize and honor their potential for sexual and/or emotional attraction to more than one gender (heteroflexible, pansexual, fluid, omnisexual, queer, and all other free-identifiers). We celebrate and affirm the diversity of identity and expression regardless of labels.

Gen Z Friendship Network (Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds)

Mon
📅 1 Jun 2026
📍 CB4 1PG

This group is made for people of Gen Z who are 21 years old plus living in the East of England. The purpose is to foster in person community, friendship, and social connections. It's a place to turn off your phone, and join a group of like-minded people in our monthly activities: for example hiking, having coffee, going to music events, or reading groups. Many people of our generation head off to London in their 20s. However, many don't want to go for reasons including high rent and expenses and poor quality of life. Here in the East of England it can be hard to meet people and make friends who are of a similar age, and this group aims to remedy that.
