All-ability Irish Ceili Dancing ‍

Jig and a Swig

This is a 1-hour weekly Irish Ceili class for dancers of every ability! Newcomers are always welcome, solo or with a pal! In Spring, we will be learning at lesser-known or 'forgotten' ceili and figure dances! 👯‍♀️ These weekly classes are the perfect way to welcome new dancers, introduce a pal to Jig and a Swig, keep fit and offer new teachers the chance to give ceili teaching a try. This class will cover 1-2 different ceili dances each week, help you get your heart pumping and mix and mingle with jiggers and swiggers of all levels. Please bear in mind that we won't be going through the footwork in detail within this class, so if you're new to Irish dancing you can simply walk/skip the dances, and we will offer alternative footwork. Advanced dancers should know that there may be total beginner Irish dancers in this class, as it is an inclusive class for all-abilities to dance together! If you'd like to dance with the footwork, we'd recommend spending some time before looking at the footwork so you have a feel for what's involved: Some of the moves we'll use in every ceili class include... • Threes • Sevens • Rise and grind 🎥 Take a look at this video before the class to help you get your footwork ready: 🕺🏻 The regular teacher will be Joshua Ruddock, former world-champion ceili dancer. 👯‍♀️ Automatic 15% discount if you book two individual tickets together for your pal! (not with a pass) ☘️ WHAT IS CEILI? ☘️ Irish Ceili dancing is a group form of Irish dancing from anywhere between 6-100+ people at a time! They're set dances that have been danced for hundreds of years. The Siege of Ennis might be the most well-known, but there are actually 30+ different traditional Irish ceili and figure dances, and dozens more which are being discovered in historical writings. Here is some inspiration: Enjoy! 💃🏻🕺 PLEASE NOTE THERE AR
