An early photography process Cyanotype is a light reactive technique creating images in blue or if you use natural dyes change the colour. Cyanotype is a simple yet effective technique for creating beautiful prints on fabric or paper using photo-reactive chemicals. When exposed to light, these chemicals turn the material blue, producing striking, permanent prints. On fabric, these prints can be stitched into or incorporated into patchwork. Make some amazing cyanotypes on fabric and paper whilst you learn about this process. It is a simple but effective way of creating beautiful prints on fabric or paper, using photo-reactive chemicals, which make your fabric or paper turn blue when exposed to light. The prints created are permanent on fabric and can then be stitched into or used in patchwork. In this workshop, you will learn the mechanics of cyanotype, including mixing and applying the chemicals, achieving the clearest prints, and exploring creative techniques to produce unique effects. We will use leaves, feathers, and digital negatives to create your prints. Suitable for all abilities.
