Bristol Mandarin Chinese Meetup

Tue
📅 Every tuesday
📍 BS1 5LH

大家好!This is a group for anyone who is learning Mandarin Chinese or who is a native speaker. All abilities are welcome. We organise different events - sometimes a meal, sometimes some drinks. If you have an idea for something you’d like us to organise, just let us know! We speak a mix of Chinese and English, and you will always be made welcome. Please RSVP to events as I always book tables. However, there is more flexibility at the social events so we would still like to see you if you can make it last minute! I always have my phone with me with the meetup app on it, so if you can let me know, please do. Our Mandarin meetups are very relaxed and informal. There are always new people who might be a bit nervous too, so don't worry! Come along and try it out, and meet some new friends. There will always be a meetup sign on the table. Take a look at the organiser's picture so you can recognise them!

Bristol Spanish Intercambio: Language Exchange

All agesSat
📅 25 Apr 2026
📍 BS1 1EQ

Hello everyone! In April we're going to be reading El Fin Del Amor by Tamara Tenenbaum. This book is a bit different to the ones we've read so far: it's a book of essays focused on modern relationships (and the history that brought them to this point), told through the lens of the author's lived experience as someone brought up in a Jewish Orthodox family - to whom the secular rules of sex and desire were totally foreign. You can find the book in Spanish: Amazon: Book Delivery: And it looks like it's free on the Internet Archive as well: But also in English if you'd prefer: Waterstones: Amazon: It's highly recommended that you read the whole book (in Spanish, English or the language of your choosing!) before the date of the book club; however, you are still welcome to come if you don't quite manage it. An intermediate/advanced level of Spanish is welcome but not mandatory. The goal of the book club is to analyse the book of the month and engage in literary discussion, rather than to simply practise a language (however, you are welcome to listen in, in order to learn new phrases in Spanish). ¡Te esperamos!
