Beginner's pottery workshop - make a textured pillar candlestick

Walrus Ceramics

Come along to this relaxed and friendly workshop and enjoy making and glazing your very own pillar candlestick. It’s suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone who’s joined a previous class.

The workshop takes place at my studio at Earsham Hall near Bungay, and I’ll guide you through the whole process. Using a simple slab-building technique and a template (which makes it nice and straightforward), you’ll make your candlestick, then add texture using a range of tools and decorate it with coloured underglaze.

Once finished, I’ll fire your candlestick, apply a clear glaze, and fire it again – ready for you to collect a couple of weeks later. All materials and equipment are provided, including clay, underglaze, and firing. You’ll go home with a beautiful, unique piece you’ve made yourself.

Pottery is a wonderful way to relax, switch off, and enjoy some creative time – and this project is a lovely introduction if you’ve been thinking about giving it a try.

Included:
All materials, including clay and underglaze.
Firing and a final clear glaze.
All equipment.
