##OVERVIEW This is an introduction to mountaineering and covers the expectations for moving in big boots on easy rock climbs and alpine style terrain.  Gain exposure, learn to move on a rope and tackle scrambles up to Grade III and easy climbs up to the grade of Diff. Two days, being guided in the mountains, accessing some of the best scrambles in the Lake District.  ##COURSE OUTLINE This course is for people looking to develop their knowledge to progress into grade III scrambling ground and easy climbs, to progress their mountaineering skills and efficiency to head to the Alps or tackle the Cuillin Ridge (as an example).  We are hoping to equip you for all scrambling and mountaineering terrain that can be found in the UK.  LDM will literally show you the ropes and help you to access terrain on higher end scrambles. We are looking to develop your overall understanding of mountain scrambling and allow you to broaden your experience levels on some classic Lakeland scrambles with a qualified expert. ​​ ###Guided Technical Scramble -Two days of guided scrambling on a challenging routes to teach and demonstrate relevant skills. ###Emphasis on route-finding, protection placement, and efficient movement. -Gear and Equipment -Gear selection for technical scrambling. -Proper fitting of helmets, harnesses, and specialised equipment. ###Advanced Scrambling Techniques -Focus on precise footwork, handholds, and body positioning on technical terrain. -Introduction to down climbing techniques. ###Rope Work for Scramblers -Introduction to basic knots and hitches. -Roped movement as a team on exposed terrain, with the guide leading the scrambles. ###Use of Protection -Proper placement and assessment of natural and artificial protection. -Abseiling techniques for steep descents. ##SKILLS COVERED -Technical gear and its application -Fundamental climbing skills -Tying in, belaying -Placing and removing gear -Movement coaching and climbing styles -Moving as a rope team -Basic rope work as necessary to the day -Descent - being lowered & abseiling
