Young Coaches Volunteer Programme Our Young Coaches Volunteer Programme is a development and enrichment opportunity for young people in Year 7 and above who have an interest in sport, leadership, and coaching. This programme is voluntary and is designed to: Keep young people active, engaged, and supervised during school holidays Provide a positive alternative to boredom or spending time unsupervised at home or on the streets Help participants build confidence, responsibility, and teamwork skills Offer valuable work-experience style exposure to coaching, leadership, and sports environments Participants will support qualified coaches by: Assisting with session setup and pack-down Helping demonstrate activities Encouraging younger children Observing and learning basic coaching skills All activities are age-appropriate, supervised, and focused on learning and personal development, not employment. Attendance Fee There is a £10 per day attendance fee. This fee contributes towards: Facility and equipment costs Supervision and safeguarding Structured training, mentoring, and learning opportunities A safe, organised environment for the day This is not a payment to work, but a contribution towards the cost of delivering the programme. Recognition and Development Incentive To support basic money-management learning and responsibility, volunteers receive a £5 daily development allowance. This is intended as a learning incentive, not a wage, and reflects: Commitment Engagement Personal development progress The programme is not employment, and participation does not create an employer-employee relationship. Safeguarding & Parental Consent All young volunteers participate with parent/carer consent Sessions are fully supervised by qualified adults Volunteers are never left in charge of children The programme follows safeguarding and child-protection policies Summary This programme exists to: ✔ Provide a safe, structured place to be ✔ Encourage positive use of free time ✔ Build real-world skills and experience ✔ Support personal growth and confidence
