We're part of the Association of Speakers Clubs (ASC). We are dedicated to nurturing great communicators and helping you grow in confidence, build audience rapport, and master the art of providing and receiving expert feedback. Additionally, we offer opportunities to practice leadership by chairing meetings, working towards our leadership awards, and volunteering for committee roles. We welcome people of all experience levels to join us and learn together the skills of great communication. You can find us at the Louis Marchesi on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, all year round. On 20th May we look forward to the return of our 'Famous Speeches' night.

This month hear all about what a speakers club is. We have our AGM but there will be plenty of time to practice your impromptu speaking skills and get experienced feedback with our impromptu (Topics) session. Usually, short speech assignments are the main way that we grow our skills, by focussing on one aspect at a time. All explained in the speakers guide book! It's also how we develop our skills in giving feedback by making speech evaluations - to the group, and can be separately. All we ask is that you please buy a drink at the bar, as the venue support us with use of the room. We're a friendly bunch and I look forward to meeting you. Any questions, please message us. If you've not been before let us know and we'll look out for you. We meet in the upstairs room. - It can be a little cold, as it's a beautiful period building - wear warm clothing and we'll give you a warm welcome too!

Shut Up & Write!® Norwich

18+Sat
📅 25 Apr 2026
📍 NR3 1JD

Welcome to Norwich Shut Up & Write! Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you too on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - Quick introductions 10:05 - Timer starts: write for 1 hour 11:05 - The End: chat, take off, or keep writing If you would like to stick around for some social time after, that is always welcome. What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bringing earbuds/earplugs may be helpful if you want to block out background noise. If writing on a laptop, make sure it is pre-charged as there are no power outlets available to us. Cactus Café does have WiFi, just ask for the passcode when you order your coffee. Some Important Details: We will be easy to find. Come into Cactus Café and look for the group of people with notebooks and laptops! We are always in the area by the door nearest to Epic Studios. Please thank our hosts by purchasing a drink before starting your writing session. They have a big range including some excellent coffees. The event is limited to 12 people as the venue can't host many more than that. If the event is full, drop me a message anyway as you may still be able to fit in. If you RSVP and realise you cannot attend, please cancel your RSVP as soon as possible to free the space for another writer. Being late is okay! Just show up and get settled. You can always check in with everyone after the session. Happy writing and we look forward to seeing you at Cactus Café!
