Enfield Climate Action Forum

We're tackling climate change locally Enfield Climate Action Forum (EnCaf) is a civil society forum and action group created to confront, tackle and adapt to the climate emergency. We are the Meetup support group of EnCaf and we support the work they do. With over 140 network members, EnCaf exchanges knowledge, campaigns together and has a number of specific working groups. The forum was set up by a number of people who believed that combating climate change is a whole community concern. We have started working on a strategy to see how Enfield can reduce its carbon footprint. And our members have set up various Working Groups (Business, Emissions, Pollution, Education, Land Use and Waste) to help achieve our collective ambition. We are pleased in this Meetup group to give our support to EnCaf to publicise the work they do and to encourage positive discussion You can visit our website at 

GlobalNet21: Recreating Our Futures

Recreating Our Futures GlobalNet21 is a leading forum in the UK for discussing the major issues in the 21st Century. We share a common concern for the sustainability of both our planet and the people on it. With almost 20,000 network members in the UK and abroad, we are making the debate, and democracy, more accessible by enlarging the Public Square and using social networks. As well as a network of individuals we have also set up a collaborative network of organisations to exchange good practice and transfer knowledge so that we can learn from each other. This network is cross boundary and includes local authorities, housing associations, universities, community groups and social enterprises. Our aim is through dialogue to celebrate diversity and develop community self-resilience and sustainability at a time of unprecedented social and environmental change. Bristol Foraging Meetup Group

This group aims to create a community of Bristol wild plant + nature lovers who share knowledge on the traditional uses of local edible plants and herbal medicine. We meet in parks and open spaces for relaxed walks across Bristol. All levels welcome, no experience necessary! Hosted by Maria Fernandez Garcia, founder of Healing Weeds CIC. Who are we? Local people taking care of wildlife and sharing our passion and knowledge in a practical and fun way in the parish of Cookham. What are we doing? ·  Planning a calendar of local events and activities such as guided walks and talks ·  Running practical campaigns and initiatives to enrich habitats such as: o  Wildlife and natural gardening – educating people about the importance of their gardens and creating wildlife corridors through gardens for hedgehogs and many other animals. Promoting the use of natural and non-chemical substances in the garden. o  Leaving verges and meadows long, not cutting until after flowers have seeded, and planting wildflowers on verges as food sources for bees and other insects o  Not cutting hedges and trees between Feb and Aug while birds are still nesting o  Securing habitat and nest boxes for certain birds such as House Martins and encouraging the use of Swift bricks in new-build properties o  Reducing light pollution ·  Offering wildlife advice and building a community of interest through a dedicated wildlife forum on cookham.com Who is supporting us? We'll be helping ARC Collective to clear their green overgrowth, in order to create more space for making beds to grow food, and to make the towpath garden more accessible for community events. Please bring gloves. Running there with us? We'll be running slowly there from Arsenal Community Hub, it's about 3km each way. Meet us at Arsenal for warm ups at 6.45pm. There is space to change and leave your bag if needed. Meeting us there? Be at The ARC, 98b St Paul Road, Islington, N17DF for 7.15pm. It's at the bottom of Packington Street, just around the corner from the local Co-op About ARC: ARC Collective is Islington’s home of communal wellness. They are a not-for-profit community space shaped by the local neighbourhood and built by local people, for the benefit of all. Designed with generosity at its core, ARC brings people together, offering connection and a chance to belong, right here on your doorstep. Working in collaboration with Islington Parks Service, they are the proud custodians of 4 public gardens. These gardens are havens for residents and wildlife alike, significantly increasing biodiversity. They also use these gardens as areas to train local people in Urban permaculture and horticulture.

It's about 3km each-way so there is a cycle option too.
