Notts Progs began many moons ago — back when floppy disks were available, and “the cloud” meant actual weather. Since then, it’s quietly endured as a cosy corner of Nottingham’s tech scene. I’m the fourth custodian (to my knowledge) to carry the baton — passed hand to hand as time marched on and keyboards changed shape. At its heart, Notts Progs is a friendly, no-pressure meetup for programmers in and around Nottingham. We welcome anyone with a curiosity for code — seasoned pros, weekend tinkerers, language-hoppers, and total beginners alike. There’s no schedule, no talks, and definitely no whiteboards. Just people, pints (I only drink soft drinks), and plenty of chat about tech (and often not-tech). If you’re local and you like code, come along — we’d love to meet you. — Rob

Talk; This talk follows the journey of building ProvaValidator( a container image security tool created to answer a practical question: can we actually trust the images we run? What began as a provenance validator evolved into a broader research platform for verifying signatures and attestations, generating SBOMs, scanning vulnerabilities, detecting image drift, and comparing image trust signals across major registries. Using real-world research data, the talk explores how container trust works in practice, where it breaks down, and what separates a signed image from a truly policy-ready one. It also covers the engineering lessons learned while building the tool, including support for Cosign and Notation, registry access challenges, scaling analysis across many images, and the operational realities of turning supply-chain security ideas into working software. Agenda; 18:00; Doors Open 18:30; Speaker delivers talk 19:15; Pizza and catch up 20:00; Doors close Location; Fothergill House, 16 King St, Nottingham NG1 2AS

We exist to bring agilists together for mutual benefit and personal growth, to share experiences and help each other improve in the agile delivery space whether newbie or super-experienced.   Please don’t use our group for reasons other than this (recruitment, sales prospecting, dating etc.)    There is naturally time for networking as part our sessions and we know that is an important part of the meet-up scene but please consider that people come to learn and share.  Please respect their wishes to do so.   We aim to meet on a monthly basis and anyone with an interest in Scrum, Kanban, XP, or anything similar is welcome.  If you have an interest to present or facilitate a session - please get in touch, we will support if we can! Follow us on Twitter @NottAgile to keep up to date on progress.  Thanks!
