CHILLY OPEN WATER SWIMMING INTRODUCTION
This session is perfect for anyone who is looking to swim in open water.
Swimming in open water is different and understanding how to do things is key to swimming safely.
Are you a complete newbie to open water swimming and looking to give it a go?
Are you tempted to see what all the fuss is about then why not book on and give it a go!
You can never have enough knowledge when it comes to swimming in open water.
The health benefits of being in open/chilly water are huge to both our physical and mental health. But you have to know how to go about doing things in a sensible, safe way.
AIM OF THE SESSION
This session will last approximately 2 hours and aims to provide you with the information so you will be able to swim safely in open/chilly water over the winter months.
The session will start with a whole group talk of the do's and don'ts, the health benefits, equipment you may need when swimming in open water. How to overcome cold water shock, what happens to your body, signs of hypothermia, exiting safely and about the after drop (continued cooling)
There will be a supervised swim after the talk. (Tow floats are provided for all swimmers)
The length of swim time in the water will depend on the temperature.
All swimmers will be required to get changed together so you can be observed at all times whilst warming up post swim.
A post swim hot drink is included in the cost.
After the session will you will receive a post session email so you have all the information to hand so you can continue to swim sensibly over the winter months.
Hot showers are not recommended after swimming in cold water.
This is a great opportunity to experience the benefits of this amazing activity and meet like minded people. Open water swimmers are a friendly bunch.

Be over 18 years of age. Children 16 years and over can attend but must be accompanied by an adult throughout the entire session.
