This course focusses on the roles and responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead and requires participants to have previously completed basic safeguarding and child protection training.

This is an accredited 1 day in-person course and meets the EYFS 2025 criteria for effective safeguarding training.

Role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
Safer recruitment and pre-appointment checks.
Staff induction.
Training requirements for staff and ways to embed safeguarding.
Managing and recording concerns and referrals.
Supporting staff.
Managing allegations against staff / volunteers and dealing with low-level concerns.
Features of a safe and open culture, including the process to follow for whistleblowing.
