A course to meet the needs of childcare/playworkers starting out or expanding their knowledge of safeguarding and child protection. It will enable participants to implement their own safeguarding policies and procedures and is suitable for practitioners working with children/young people aged 0-15.

This is an accredited 1-day in-person course that meets the EYFS 2025 criteria for effective safeguarding training.

Course Content:

Recognising abuse – categories of abuse and possible signs and symptoms.
Responding to concerns or disclosures – responding to children and speaking with parents /carers.
How to make accurate safeguarding records.
Pathways for escalating concerns and referral process.
Recognising concerning behaviour in colleagues and how to respond.
Whistleblowing.
