I am a qualified teacher and the class takes place at Walrus Studios at Earsham Hall near Bungay. In this workshop, we'll be making a shallow bowl using a hump mould, decorating with leaves and flowers and then glazing using underglazes. I will then fire your bowl, give it a transparent glaze and then fire it for the second time. All equipment and materials are supplied and you will be able to make, glaze and take home (in a couple of weeks after firing) a unique piece of pottery that you have made yourself. A relaxed, informal class, where you can spend time making and glazing your own sgraffito bird. This class is suitable for beginners as well as anyone who has attended a previous workshop. I am a qualified teacher and the class takes place at my studio at Earsham Hall, near Bungay. In this workshop, you will make a bird sculpture using slab building, which you will then decorate using underglaze and use the sgraffito technique to add decoration. Sgraffito involves scratching and carving off the underglaze to reveal the white clay underneath. Your bird can be designed to sit in different positions or you can make it into a hanging decoration. I will then fire your bird, give it a final transparent glaze when it will be fired for a final time. All equipment and materials are supplied and you will be able to make, glaze and take home (in a couple of weeks after firing) a unique piece of pottery that you have made yourself. Join textile artist Clare for an introduction to simple printing and stitching techniques. A selection of vintage and new fabrics will be provided for you to experiment with using a heat press printing technique and different hand stitching methods which will include applique, simple quilting and mending techniques connecting with traditional stitching methods such Kantha stitching. Kantha stitching is a traditional Indian stitching technique that uses a simple running stitch to bind fabrics together to create a beautifully stitched surface. This workshop is about breathing new life into old fabric and giving them a new decorative purpose. You will spend the workshop experimenting in the relaxed creative setting of Walrus Studios, exploring different printed base fabric surfaces to start your experimental mark making using stitch. All materials will be included but if you have your own fabrics that you wish to bring along, please do. All levels of experience welcome.

Join textile artist Clare for this workshop where you can learn different printing and stitching techniques and produce your own stitched landscape. Using a variation of different fabric backgrounds and simple heat & lino printing techniques, you will build up layers of materials combined with different embroidery stitches and applique to create your own unique stitched landscape. You can create one larger piece or several smaller samples to create your final piece, which will be bound and mounted ready for you to frame. If you have a photograph of your favorite landscape, please do bring it along as inspiration. All levels of experience welcome.

I am a qualified teacher and the class takes place at Walrus Studios at Earsham Hall, near Bungay. In this workshop, we'll make a dish using a hump mould, chosen from a selection of different shapes and sizes. We will then add colour using underglaze and use the sgraffito technique to carve away a pattern to reveal the white clay under the underglaze. Your dish will then be fired, given a final transparent glaze and then fired for a final time. Join our relaxed and friendly class where you can learn a range of hand-building and glazing techniques. It’s a lovely way to spend a morning, meet others with similar interests, and enjoy some creative time for yourself. Classes run on Wednesday mornings from 10-12 at my studio at Earsham Hall, near Bungay. All materials and equipment are provided, and you’ll be able to make, glaze and take home your own fired pottery pieces. No previous experience is needed. I’m a fully qualified teacher and will guide you through each stage of the process. Each week we’ll work on well-planned projects that build your confidence and skills at a comfortable pace.
