Summary: It’s time for this year’s Cambridge to Ely walk! We start at Cambridge North train Station, and take the path along River Cam. We’ll have a pub stop at Five Miles From Anywhere around half way. After that we continue towards Ely. After reaching Ely, we can go for a stroll in the town or come back by train. Logistics: Meet at Cambridge North train station at 9:30 am, and expected to finish around 6:00. From Ely there’s trains every 10 minutes to Cambridge. Bring: Packed lunch, snacks, water (1.5 to 2 liters), walking kit, hiking boots, waterproof jacket and warm layers. Reminder If you are unable to attend, please update your RSVP. Note the sign up on Meetup is for non-members, who are not part of the WhatsApp group yet. Any current members will sign up through the WhatsApp group. Terrain: Mostly flat, can be muddy at places: Please inform the walk leader if you are leaving before the walk is finished. We respect nature and people and follow the countryside code: Join The Club: Set up a recurring £1 monthly fee. This helps cover admin costs and fund trips for the club. After the walk, the walk organisers will share the details of the club bank account. On receipt of payment, newcomers will be added to the club Whatsapp group by the club organiser. Disclaimer: This hike is organized by a volunteer-driven group. By participating in this event, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety and well-being. Welcome to Cambridge Hiking Club (CHC). Read the information below for our Three Principles. 1\. Friendship: CHC is a club based on the relationships between its members. We seek to promote an in-person community facilitated by our WhatsApp group. Every member is expected to be considerate of others when on walks and trips. 2\. Physical challenge: We want to be pushed physically when we hike, because this unlocks physical, emotional, and spiritual rewards. Walks require an already solid level of physical fitness. 3\. Trips: We see ourselves as a local hiking club but one in which adventure and exploration are at the heart of what we do. We are regularly running trips across the UK and will eventually run trips abroad too.

The walking group will walk the same route most Saturdays. The route goes from Bar Hill to Knapwell then to Cambridge and is about 15 miles on total and takes about 6 hours to walk. There are other walks we could do but this one is convenient for most people and is a bit of a challenge but not too much so. It’s also easy to get to as there are buses to Bar Hill ever half an hour or so and the walk ends in Cambridge so easy to get home also.
