Usual event. Informal chat in German over drinks. A lot of our members don't get regular opportunities to speak German. So anyone attending our events should please be ready to hold a conversation in German. If you can’t find us, please ask at the bar. We will be downstairs in this venue (we have used the upstairs section in the past, but it is not available on this particular evening). I pay a fee to the meetup website to use this site for 6 months. It is paid in September and March. In March 2026, I paid £166.16 including fees. So I ask for £3 from each person when they attend a meetup event. I need to recover the majority of this fee. I had previously added PayPal to the meetup site, but have decided to remove it just now to allow anyone (including those who don’t use PayPal) to RSVP. You don’t have to RSVP in advance. But doing so gives us a better idea of how many people are likely to be there on the night. I will add the PayPal address in the comment section of this event so that there is a payment method for those who don’t carry cash. Regarding the end time, you are welcome to stay as long as you want. I have put 9pm purely because I don’t want a situation where someone turns up later than that to find nobody there.
Bonjour à tous! This is a group for anyone who would like to learn, maintain or perfect French, whether you are based in Scotland or elsewhere on the planet (people from other planets welcome too). I am a native, experienced French teacher, and I love sharing my passion for French culture and language learning. Whether you just want some opportunities to chat and maintain your French or to seriously improve or learn, there will be events of all sorts, but always in a fun and friendly atmosphere! Here are some regular events that can be on: Weekly classes: these are regular 1-1.5 hours classes designed to help you learn different aspects of French every week. Here are the current classes: Begin French: ideal for complete beginners (people with zero experience of French), but also good for beginners with some knowledge (A1-A2 levels). Every Wednesday, from 11am to 12pm UK time, £12 per session. Fluent French: this is a class designed to help you practice fluency -that is, begin able to speak without having to think about the rules. It is about internalising the rules and knowledge so that your flow becomes spontaneous and effortless. Every Monday from 4:30pm to 6;00pm UK time, £18 per session. Speak French: conversation classes. Designed to get you to practice French informally with other speakers. Every Wednesday, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm UK time, free. Real French: a class to learn colloquial and informal French, as well as unofficial grammar rules - the French that is spoken every day, pretty different from the grammar book one!
