Forest Explorers Home Education (fortnightly attendance)

📍 BD13 4EU

Join us for our Forest Explorers drop-off sessions—designed especially for children who are home-educated or flexi-schooled. These sessions are rooted in child-led Forest School principles, where each child’s curiosity guides their learning journey. Set in a safe, supportive outdoor environment, children are encouraged to explore, take appropriate risks, and develop confidence at their own pace. Throughout the day, children will build a wide range of practical and life skills. They can choose to work towards their Wild Passport, developing abilities such as shelter building, knot tying, fire safety and lighting, and safe tool use. Their progress is recorded in their own passport, creating a meaningful record of their achievements. A key part of our sessions is cooking and sharing food together. Children will learn how to prepare and cook meals over an open fire, exploring different techniques while gaining an understanding of food hygiene and safety. These shared experiences help nurture independence, cooperation, and a real sense of accomplishment. Beyond practical skills, Forest Explorers is about building friendships, resilience, and teamwork. Through group challenges and collaborative play, children learn to communicate, problem-solve, and support one another, strengthening both social skills and emotional wellbeing. There is also plenty of opportunity for nature connection and exploration — discovering local flora and fauna, observing seasonal changes, and learning how we interact with and care for the natural world. Creativity flows naturally in the woodland setting. Children can experiment with natural crafts, including willow weaving, natural dyes and paints, whittling, and creating personal nature journals to capture their experiences. Because sessions are child-led, each week may look different. Some days may focus on skill-building or crafting, while others may centre around socialising, imaginative play, or teamwork. This means children may not al

🐝🦋🐌 Forest Tots 🐝🦋🐌

📍 BD13 4EU

Forest Tots is a stay and play session held weekly, aimed at families with children from walking to - 5 yrs, babes in arms are welcome and are free to attend. At Forest Tots we have lots of activities that children can access and enjoy freely as much as they want, with the hope they will extend the play using their imagination for example the mud kitchen is set up and ready to go, what they will make is up to the children. Learning through experimentation in the mud kitchen, balancing and climbing on our obstacle course and swinging on the tree swinging. Working on their fine motor skills with natural paint brushes and picking up leaves as well as those gross motor skills like digging in the soil hill. There will be an emphasis on free play rather than focused activities. My aim is to allow both children and parents/carers to enjoy being in nature, to give adults a chance to meet new people and relax as much as giving children opportunities to play freely and socialise. Being a mum myself I know what is important, which is why the cost is kept to a minimum and includes a snack and water/juice (hot chocoloate in the colder months) for children along with a hot drink for adults. We also have a camping toilet and a hand washing station too. Each week we will have a fire towards the end of the session to allow us to cook something, this is usually smores but could also be popcorn or toasted muffins. Have a suggestion - let me know and we will give it a try. Please do let us know if you or your children have any dietary needs. Sessions are block book currently with a small number of tickets released a few days before. If you are a childminder please get in touch for a discount code before booking.
