I thought I'd start a Meetup group to give all the rock music and metal lovers a chance to get together with fellow fans of this brilliant music genre, and enjoy it together.. whether at a local gig or simply chatting about favourite artists, albums and experiences over a few friendly drinks. If you love playing or listening to the piano, our group is for you! Having established "Let's Play The Piano! - Manchester" in 2015, we thought it would be great if Leeds also had a group! All abilities/styles welcome and no previous performance experience required (playing is optional). The events will be informal, the aim being to increase performance confidence, have fun and meet new friends. If you'd like to try a duet, just bring it along! Refreshments are included and non-players/audience welcome too. There's an attendance fee of £10. This is just to cover operational costs including insurance. All welcome to our next event at the wonderful Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall at The University of Leeds. The university's music school has been an All-Steinway School, since 2017, and we'll have the use of an incredible Steinway Model D piano in the Concert Hall along with a Steinway Model B in the adjoining Concert Hall Foyer / Clothworkers Bar. The University of Leeds are supporting the group as part of their community engagement programme, making access to this superb venue possible. About the event Let's Play The Piano is open to all and a great opportunity to practice performing regardless of ability, experience or musical style. Playing is optional however, non-pianists are welcome to enjoy the music. Maybe you're thinking of learning the piano and would like to find out more. It's also great way to make new friends! We have the venue from 1.45pm-5:00pm so you're welcome to arrive as early as you wish in time for our 2:30pm start. The event will run until 4.30pm with an interval so plenty of time to chat to other attendees over tea/coffee. There's a multi-story car park onsite along with other parking which will be available at a large discount for attendees (details will be confirmed nearer the date) Standard attendance is £10 (players or audience) payable in advance via the link below or on the day by cash or card. So Choir! Leeds is the super-fun live music social singing group meetup! Get together with friends + soon to become friends, for drinks, laughs & top singalong fun! At each session, we take an awesome song and give it the So Choir! treatment to create EPIC spine-tingling harmony! Simply sing along and add your voice in to the mix to help create something amazing. So Choir! nights are an interactive blast! You’ll sing, laugh, make friends with random strangers and discover muscles you never knew existed. Bring what you got - all voices welcome…yep, even yours! Since 2016, So Choir! have been bringing people together to sing top songs in awesome harmony. We've made a bunch of amazing friends, been on the telly, recorded videos for YouTube and even ended up on tour with the artists who’s songs we’ve covered! What songs do we sing?? Great songs, that’s what! This lot for starters: Foo Fighters, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, Dua Lipa, Kaiser Chiefs, Oasis, Stereophonics, McFly, The Script, Take That, Backstreet Boys, U2, Elton John, Crowded House.. the list goes ON! 🎵 But what is this weeks song, I hear you ask??!! Hey, break out of that pesky comfort zone and just come along, have a drink or six, meet excellent people and help create something AMAZING! We put a lot of thought into our song choices, so it'll be a banger! Just come down and go with the flow. So Choir! = guaranteed to broaden your musical horizons.
