ZENTANGLE INSPIRATIONS

It is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns which are called tangles. Tangles are created using a series of steps and elemental strokes similar to dots, lines, simple curves, s-curve, and orbs. Zentangle art is non-representational. Zentangle is an abstract art form where the artists draws repetitive, simple patterns. Usually the patterns are drawn using a black marker on white paper and sometimes the artist will colour them in. PARCHMENT CRAFT

Parchment craft is the art of cutting, perforating and embossing parchment paper/vellum to create delicate, lace-like designs for greetings cards and other stationery. Using various techniques one can create elegant and "soft-looking" projects. With basic techniques it is easy to master the beauty of this craft. This is lovely pastime and can be done by anyone. This uses hand held pointed embossing pens on a mat. All tools will be provided in the workshops. A beverage is included.

PRE SCHOOL STORYTIME WITH ARTS AND CRAFTS

Parent/Carer welcome. Come down with your children to be told a wonderful story by Lynn then using arts and crafts material create an art piece to take home designed from the story. GELLI PLATE PRINTING AND ART JOURNALING

A fun workshop of gelli plate printing and art journaling. Anyone can join in. Easy to learn. Gelli Plate Printing uses a gelatin plate to press to fabric or paper. The process is easy as the paint is put on the gelli surface, spread out with a brayer then a variety of stencils and other textural objects are placed on the gelli plate, removed and transferred on the fabric or paper. All craft materials and a gelli plate for use in the workshop will be provided. There are 6 weeks of learning new techniques and building a journal. You can dip in and out, but I'm sure once you start you will want to come and see what each weeks tips and techniques are. A sewing club for everyone This is a class for anyone over 11 years who has the capacity to understand instructions given to them by the tutor and are not requiring one-to-one supervision. Crafting instruments including sharp scissors and pokey tools will be used and we ask that you abide by health and safety instructions given by the tutor. Aprons and art sleeves are available. You may bring your own crafting instruments if they are clearly marked with your initials. The management accept no responsibility for the loss or damage of personal items brought to the workshops. Mark making is an important aspect of art making. Adding marks to your art that are meaningful to you also adds interest. Its a freeing exercise, follow your instincts and incorporate scribbling around some of the images you make with the acrylic pens and brushes. DOODLE DIARIES – ONE PEN

BEGINNERS GUIDE TO KAWANDI- HAND STITCHING PANEL

A creative, family-friendly hand-sewing experience | £20 | 7th January | Ages 11+ What is Kawandi? The traditional Kawandi is a hand-stitched quilt, made from scraps of fabric. It is a technique introduced by the Siddi people of African descent, based in Western India. Uniquely it is assembled from the outside in. The edges are turned under and stitched together, and wadding is laid inside. It is hand quilted in a spiral, adding more scraps of fabric as required. You’ll learn the simple but deeply satisfying Kawandi stitch, layering textiles and calico to create your own small stitched artwork or mini quilt. Peg Doll Ballerina Workshop Slow down, unwind and get creative Join us for a relaxing 4-hour workshop where you’ll transform a simple wooden peg into a beautiful ballerina keepsake. CYANOTYPE – ART MEETS NATURE

An early photography process Cyanotype is a light reactive technique creating images in blue or if you use natural dyes change the colour. Cyanotype is a simple yet effective technique for creating beautiful prints on fabric or paper using photo-reactive chemicals. When exposed to light, these chemicals turn the material blue, producing striking, permanent prints. On fabric, these prints can be stitched into or incorporated into patchwork. Make some amazing cyanotypes on fabric and paper whilst you learn about this process. It is a simple but effective way of creating beautiful prints on fabric or paper, using photo-reactive chemicals, which make your fabric or paper turn blue when exposed to light. The prints created are permanent on fabric and can then be stitched into or used in patchwork. In this workshop, you will learn the mechanics of cyanotype, including mixing and applying the chemicals, achieving the clearest prints, and exploring creative techniques to produce unique effects. We will use leaves, feathers, and digital negatives to create your prints. Suitable for all abilities.

SEW ME A MEADOW

Learn how to 'draw' with your sewing machine. You will be shown how to adapt your domestic sewing machine and practice foliage and flower stitching techniques. Then, working on a background of layered fabrics, you will design and create a small, individual flower meadow picture, with freehand machine embroidery and applied fabrics. Be inspired to have a go on your own machine at home. No experience necessary. Come and join Susan for this decorative floral free-motion stitched workshop. Learn how to add free motion stitch and apply colour to the fabric with threads and fabric. Some knowledge of how to use your sewing machine will be required, but Susan will gently guide you through this exciting technique. Using the free templates as your guide is a great way to start your free-motion stitching journey. Please bring with you your instruction manual or be able to access it online so that if any issues occur Susan can try to help with your particular machine Please bring your own sewing machine, it must be able to drop the feed dogs or you can cover them with masking tape. SKYLINE STORIES: A CREATIVE CIRCLE OF HOME AND HORIZON

In this heartwarming workshop, we’ll explore the quiet beauty of house silhouettes set against a skyline — inspired by the evocative image “Skyline” and brought to life through stamping, die cuts, and colour. You’ll be given a curated set of pre-stamped houses and die cuts to arrange in a circle, creating your own symbolic skyline. At the centre: an open sky, ready to be coloured with your own energy, emotions, and shades of imagination. This isn’t just a craft session. It’s a pause. A moment to reflect, to create, and to let your hands tell a story of belonging, wonder, and personal landscape. GELLI PLATE PRINTING AND ART JOURNALING

A fun workshop of gelli plate printing and art journaling. Anyone can join in. Easy to learn. Gelli Plate Printing uses a gelatin plate to press to fabric or paper. The process is easy as the paint is put on the gelli surface, spread out with a brayer then a variety of stencils and other textural objects are placed on the gelli plate, removed and transferred on the fabric or paper. All craft materials and a gelli plate for use in the workshop will be provided. There are 6 weeks of learning new techniques and building a journal. You can dip in and out, but I'm sure once you start you will want to come and see what each weeks tips and techniques are. It can be Bold images of collage which adds so much to the page Stamps and stencils add texture to backgrounds increasing visual appeal through layering Inspires future art work, a springboard for larger work on other substrats Take risks and try something new Playing with ideas, sketch and doodle, colour cut it up and use on other pieces or pages of art you make Use colour you don't typically use, pair it with other colours and watch the magic happen both on the page and within you.

You may bring your own crafting instruments if they are clearly marked with your initials. The management accept no responsibility for the loss or damage of personal items brought to the workshops. We adhere to GDPR procedures regarding your personal data and CCTV recordings. We will not sell or supply third parties with any of your information. LINES, SHADE & MARKERS 2

Mark making is an important aspect of art making. Adding marks to your art that are meaningful to you also adds interest. Its a freeing exercise, follow your instincts and incorporate scribbling around some of the images you make with the acrylic pens and brushes. Come and create a set of art pictures using watercolours. acrylic pens and free flowing marks. Mary Oliver once said" I don't want to end up having simply visited this world". With this sentiment in mind make art part of your day, week, month and feel alive and embrace your new normal.

BITS BOLTS AND BRUSHSTROKES

Immerse yourself in all things mixed media, using collage, wood, cogs, nuts, buttons, bolts mosaic tiles and many other metals and paper. If you wish to incorporate a head and shoulders shot of someone, famous or otherwise (similar to the workshop picture) please bring it with you. Included in the price is a 20cm x 50 cm canvas, mixed media pieces and full use of paints and brushes to complete your canvas.
