We’re off on an Earth Walk today - an epic journey venturing across our incredible parkland uncovering hidden treasures along the way. Our morning is all about discovery and teamwork. We’ll set off as a group to navigate the landscape, keeping our eyes peeled as we wander through the woodlands, discover prehistoric landmarks, gather beneath ancient oaks, watch the birds as we stroll by the ornamental lake through our friendly flock of sheep. It’s a morning for us to breathe in the fresh air, test our problem-solving skills, explore our creativity and enjoy the great outdoors as one big team of explorers. After our big quest and a spot of lunch, we’ll head into the Forest School circle with Myra for some crafting and playing. Alternatively, we can choose to visit our two giant fallen trees or play an epic game of hide-and-seek. For those who want to test their balance, the slackline is ready in the woods, or of you prefer a quieter moment – swing in the hammock listening to the birds.

This unique adventure blends the magic of seasonal foraging with the freedom of a traditional, child-led Forest School afternoon. Starting with a hedgerow harvest we will explore the field edges and woodland paths to safely pick late-summer treasures and turn our freshly foraged ingredients into delicious, no-cook culinary creations. After a morning of food preparation and a lunchtime of free play, the afternoon belongs entirely to the children. Following true Forest School principles with Forest School Leaders, Myra and Hannah, this session is completely child-led, allowing us to follow our own curiosity, build confidence, and manage risks safely. Depending on what inspires them, the afternoon could include den building, woodland crafting, imaginative play, games and exploring and connecting with nature.

Kayaking & Forest School (8-13yrs)

River Mountain Experience return once more to Baldersby Park’s Lake this summer. Instructor David will provide us with all the basic knowledge in this fun session to gain our British Canoeing Start Award. We’ll leave the water knowing how to get in and out of a boat safely, make it move and return to a start point. We’ll also leave having played lots of games that involve rubber ducks, oversized footballs and racing around the islands in the middle of the lake! The other part of the day we will be setting up Forest School. Our Forest School Leader, Myra, will be on hand with tools, ropes and an abundance of resources if we want to craft using natural materials, try some whittling, or perfect our den-building techniques. We might find ourselves deep in an imaginary world among the ancient oaks, or perhaps we'll spend the time relaxing sharing stories and watching the tree canopy blow in the breeze…the choice is yours. With our experienced staff we’re able to offer so much more than just the activities - games, free play, crafts and child-led adaptations are all thrown into the mix to ensure everyone gets the most out of their day with us.
