Pay What You Can: Community Forest School Open Play Sessions

📅 6 Sep 2026
📍 M34 2HE

JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THIS SESSION WILL FINISH AT 3PM DUE TO FAMILY COMMITMENTS Come and enjoy our beautiful forest school site with your children during our Community Open Play Sessions. These sessions operate on a pay what you can basis, with all donations going towards supporting the ongoing maintenance and development of the green space for the benefit of the local community. Children are free to explore, play and enjoy the natural environment at their own pace. A selection of self-led activities may be available for families to access throughout the session, although these are entirely optional. Please note that this is not a led Forest School session. Whilst a qualified Forest School Leader will be present on site, activities will not be facilitated or supervised by staff, and parents/carers remain responsible for the supervision and safety of their children at all times. As maintenance and improvement work may occasionally be taking place, some areas of the site may be temporarily unavailable during your visit. Whether you want to have a relax in the hammock, play with our fairy garden, mud kitchen, build dens, explore nature, relax in the fresh air or simply enjoy unstructured outdoor play, we look forward to welcoming you to our forest school community. You can either book on here, selecting your chosen donation, or you can just turn up on the day and make a card payment, or cash donation on the gate. All donations go directly to the upkeep and maintenance of the green space.

Summer Holiday Club DANE BANK Ages 3+

Tue
📅 Every tuesday
📍 M34 2HE

PLEASE READ PARKING INFORMATION ATTACHED BEFORE BOOKING!! Come and join us for the "best holiday club ever" voted by the children! For ages 3-11. These sessions will be completely outdoors, in our very large fit for purpose Green Space area at Dane Bank Green Space, running in all weathers, except for high winds. (2 Year olds that attend our Nursery can also attend). We are very SEND inclusive, if your child has additional needs please put full information in the booking, we cannot support non-verbal children who attend a specifialist provision without a 1-1 support - If your child has high needs, is non-verbal, or requires one to one support their place with us must be pre-arranged, you cannot book a ticket through the website and must contact us via email - these places are funded through short breaks and are oversubscribed, we do initial visits to see the child, and a structured settle in process. However - we do support children with low level additional needs & neurodiversity, providing we are given full information on their booking & we are sure we can meet their needs. If the child has 1-1 support in school, it is likely they will need 1-1 support with us - if your child has any violent tendencies, we need to know, we support children from age 2 and we delegate our staff according to the needs we have on the day. If your child has additional needs/displays neurodiversity - once you have made your booking you may be contacted for more information, should children have violent meltdowns or become extremely distressed on site you may be required to collect them. Our usual routine is will meet at basecamp, do some ice breaker introductions with the group. Do a team game/challenge such as a hide and seek game or a team building exercise. Then, the majority of the session/day will be self-led child-led play, the children will have access to some adult led nature craft activities and will be able to access our tunnels, slide area, swings, hammocks, play house, obstacle course. The children, in summer enjoy blackberry picking & gardening in our edible garden. The children will be able to enjoy playing with friends in a safe and natural space with the support of our Forest School Team. We will break at some point for a snack, occasionally made on the fire. (If you are booking on a full day session children will need a packed lunch, please note we are a NUT FREE setting). (We usually do marshmallow s'mores the last week of the summer holidays and on Friday's in other half terms) It is important to note that although there will be lots of activities, including team games & challenges, and tool use/arts and crafts, children are free to decline joining in as per the forest school ethos if they do not wish to. If not experienced in Forest School previously then some children may take time to become accustomed to this experience, it is all about making friends and relationships and using their imagination to play. At the end of the session we will re-gather around basecamp and share what we have enjoyed, before we get ready for home time. Please select the correct ticket option, we offer morning only sessions 9-12, as a one off initial taster, to those who haven't been to us before (can only be used once unless pre-arranged with the director, please email for queries), or full day 9-3:45pm - or later pick up 5pm. Please make payment upon booking and email to let us know if you are paying via Tax Free childcare or another scheme with reference codes. Please read our terms and conditions attached, before booking with us. These include what will happen in the event of an extreme weather closure, as well as late collection policy, our special educational needs policy and others.
