Would you like to meet other people for some thoughtful discussion, for an adventure into our minds, debating philosophical issues in an environment of curiosity? We are self supporting in that members present issues for us to debate. This means we have fresh ideas and challenges each week. Usually once a month, we examine news items and how the ancients may have seen them. We want to keep philosophy accessible, vibrant, relevant and alive.
We're part of the Association of Speakers Clubs (ASC). We are dedicated to nurturing great communicators and helping you grow in confidence, build audience rapport, and master the art of providing and receiving expert feedback. Additionally, we offer opportunities to practice leadership by chairing meetings, working towards our leadership awards, and volunteering for committee roles. We welcome people of all experience levels to join us and learn together the skills of great communication. You can find us at the Louis Marchesi on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, all year round. On 20th May we look forward to the return of our 'Famous Speeches' night.

LGBTQ+ Creative Writing Support Group
Join us for Pink Ink - our LGBTQ+ creative writing support group! Pink Ink offers a safe writing space to all LGBTQ+ people to come together to write, share and discuss work. Each workshops will offer up 2-3 creatives writing exercises in a a fun sociable setting - refreshments, snacks and an opportunity to chat about writing, poetry, authors and a whole lot more! Our January workshops will also include a poetry exercise which will support any creative writers looking to enter the LGBT Swichb
Get your kids book written! This is an un-hosted meetup for anyone who wants to come and write for a couple of hours in the company of other kids writers. It's a great way to move your project forward in a lovely arty atmosphere. The only rules are to say hello to other writers and leave them to work until 8:30 when you are free to have a chat. If you're by yourself, don't worry. You'll get two hours of writing closer to your goal. Enjoy and Write Write Write!
Join us for some focused writing time. All writers and all experience levels are welcome and don’t worry, no one will see what you've written. This session is about getting your writing done and meeting other writers in your area. I'll be at a 4-top table, and I'll put a Melita Coffee Filters box on the table as a low-key ID for people new to the meetup. When you show up, say hello to everyone, get some coffee or tea. This group will take place at Levels cafe, on Holyrood Road. Look for the sign on the table that says 'writers group'. Bring along a piece of creative writing you want to read out, maximum length 2000 words. We will fit in as many people as possible per session. Anyone who doesn't get to read will get priority the following week. After reading the piece there will be feedback on it from those listening. Please make the feedback constructive and not overly negative.

Twice a month we gather to play Blood on the Clocktower, a social deduction game from The Pandemonium Institute in which townsfolk try to suss out who is the Demon among them before the Demon murders everyone! Lots of mayhem and fun to be had! Absolutely a beginner friendly event.
