Be Experimental is a dynamic, interactive concert and vocal workshop, led by Bristol’s very own Experimental-Pop Artist, and Authorised CVT Vocal Coach BexX. It is for anyone curious about exploring the full potential of their voice and learning to freely express lyrically and musically to an ever evolving and immersive trip-hop, electro and ambient cinematic soundtrack. This isn’t about hitting the “right” notes… it’s about connecting with your voice as an instrument of authenticity, freedom, and creativity. Beginners, seasoned singers, and curious creatives are all welcome. No experience needed, just the desire to play, explore, and experiment. What’s involved: Sample your voice live on loop stations and mix it with analogue and modular synths, samplers and effects. Play with your sound using technology: your voice shapes effects, textures, and ambient soundscapes in real time It’s a space to shake off rigidity, explore new angles, and discover fresh ways to approach your voice, helping you see, hear, and feel your singing differently. We record so you can listen back, write the song and turn them into full tracks later, or continue to explore, remix, and develop your ideas Thursdays & Fridays: Two Ways to Be Experimental The Thursday sessions are all about exploration and skill-building. Try new vocal and songwriting techniques, experiment with improvisation, deepen your understanding of interpretation and meaning behind your singing, develop your own style and explore solo performance in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. It’s reflective, playful, and perfect for cultivating curiosity, presence, and personal expression. The Friday sessions are for the Interactive Concert Experience. The energy ramps up! This sandbox-style session is free from teaching, technique, or lectures. It’s structured to give you the freedom to discover and unleash new parts of your singing you didn’t even know you had.Reviewers say: “It’s like ‘Stars In

This is an immersive workshop for singers, vocalists, and curious creatives who want to connect fully with their voice. This isn’t about sounding like anyone else or hitting the “right” notes, it’s about giving your voice the freedom, reliability, and technical support to deliver songs with real meaning, presence, and personality. We combine core foundations in technique, interpretation and improvisation. We cover breath, resonance, control, and projection, with exercises that immediately apply them to singing solo. You’ll learn to embody the songs you sing so your singing feels alive, authentic, and connected to your intention. What to expect: -Build stability, confidence, and control so you can sing freely even when nerves appear -Explore phrasing, dynamics, and interpretation to convey meaning and emotion -Strengthen projection, tone, and range so your voice reaches where it needs to, effortlessly -Exercises that let you embody the song, access emotional nuance, and deliver with authenticity -Practice improvisation and spontaneous expression while supported by your foundation Why it works: By focusing on how your voice works and what you express, you create a reliable instrument for authentic delivery. Technique is embedded in the process, but the aim is always expression: when your foundation is solid, your performance becomes truly yours. Outcomes: By the end of the workshop, you’ll: -Feel confident on the mic and on stage -Project your voice naturally and powerfully -Explore higher notes, dynamic shifts, and expressive nuance with ease -Connect deeply with the meaning behind the song -Be ready to step into any Be Experimental session, performance, or jam session with presence and freedom Who it’s for: Anyone curious about improving singing, performing, or improvising: beginners, seasoned singers, or creative explorers. If you want to free your voice and deliver songs authentically, this session is for you. Authentic Voice Design helps

Love singing? Free on a Tuesday evening? Fancy giving an award-winning A Cappella group a go? Bristol A Cappella are back from the BinG World Mixed Barbershop Championships in Germany, so are now opening up the doors to welcome new members! Come along to our New Singer's Evening and have a go at being part of a chorus that is officially top ten in the world! Tuesday 14th April 7:30pm - 10pm (then to the pub, if you fancy!) Victoria Methodist Church, Whiteladies Road There is a sign-off process to join the chorus, so some prior singing/performance experience would be beneficial (though sight-reading is NOT required). You’ll be provided with music scores when you visit, and if you decide to join the chorus, you’ll get access to mp3 teach tracks in the website to help you learn at home. Maybe you're a seasoned performer, or perhaps a little rusty; every member gets plenty of coaching and support to get your voice in great shape for a stellar A Cappella performance. For more info, head to bristolacappella.co.uk or email with any questions. All you have to do is bring some water and a desire to sing! Bristol's award-winning mixed A Cappella chorus – we sing without instruments – focused on a wide mixture of show tunes, rock, pop and barbershop. We also happen to have a laugh while we're at it. Bristol A Cappella is an auditioned chorus with a friendly sign-off process including a range check, singing in a "rolling quartet" (which we will explain!) and singing one of our pieces off music with the rest of the chorus (you get 8 weeks to learn it). We welcome new members of any age or background. We're pretty fast paced so some previous singing/performance experience is very beneficial, though sight-reading is NOT required. We rehearse every Tuesday and accept new members every 2nd Tuesday of the month, but check the events as this can sometimes change. Every other year we compete at The British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) in the Mixed Chorus category. We won gold in 2023 🥇, and bronze in 2025 🥉, (you may have seen our photo in the BBC) - not too shabby! Also in May 2025 we were invited as Champions to sing at the European Barbershop Convention in Sweden, alongside some of the best Chorus's in Europe. March 2026 we'll be heading to Germany to represent the UK in the BinG World Mixed Barbershop Championships! As Barbershop choruses go, we pride ourselves on pushing the boat out and bending the rules so to speak. For example, we were the first (and only so far!) group to sing a swear word on stage during our show as returning champions at BABS in 2024 😇 There's some kind of social happening pretty much every week outside of rehearsals, with the the record standing at one member hanging out with various BAC people for 11 consecutive days 🤯. Plus a regular group go to the pub after every rehearsal (for those of us who aren't ready for bed by the time rehearsal ends 😴) Why not give us a go? Email: Website:
