Jupiter Artland is a contemporary sculpture garden located near Wilkieston in West Lothian. It is set in over 120 acrea of parkland, woodland and indoor spaces and is home to 30+ site-specific sculptures as well as hosting seasonal exhibitions and events. The entrance is dominated by Charles Jenck's Cells of Life consisting of eight landforms and a connecting causeway which surround four lakes. There is no particular theme for the event; photographic opportunites are many and varied and will include the artworks, the landscape, the outdoor pool and anything else that takes your fancy! Entrance to Jupiter Artland is £11.80 or £10.80 for 65+ and can be booked in advance. Given the nature of the location and its photographic opportunities I have set a start time for 12 noon and suggest we may need as much as 3 hours or even longer to do it justice, particularly if the food and drink facilities (Cafe Party Bistro or the Silverstreak caravan takeaway) are to be enjoyed. As refreshments are available on site and as the area is so extensive it is probably easier if attendees leave as they please. The Lothian Country Bus service no. X27 stops right by the entrance and takes about 30 mins from the city centre. Travelling by car is the easiest means of getting there and there is a large carpark. Should anyone need a lift/want to carshare please arrange through the event messaging function.

Edinburgh Short Film Makers

18+Mon
📅 4 May 2026
📍 EH8 8AQ

Try our Edinburgh Short Filmmakers Group – a hands-on experience where you'll get stuck into real filmmaking from concept to completion. This week: Screenwriting. This week we focus on turning our beats and character studies into scripts. After welcomes and a brief presentation we'll split into groups and draft our scripts. Towards the end of the evening we'll have a table read and see how they flow! We'll also begin the process of casting our films by creating casting calls. In subsequent weeks we'll carry our ideas forward into the stages of pre-production, production and post-production, through to completion. Unlike many film groups that focus on theory and discussion or get bogged down trying to get a project off the ground, we’re all about doing. This is your chance to learn and develop practical filmmaking skills through real collaboration. Whether you're just starting out or looking to sharpen your abilities. We are able to operate thanks to our members, who pay a monthly fee of £15 (after a one off £20 joining fee) - however there is no charge for coming along to see what we're all about. First three weeks of attendance are free. 🎥 Learn how to use cameras and gear 📝 Get involved in storyboarding and shot planning 🎬 Take part in a live short film production, from idea to final cut You won’t just watch others – you’ll be actively creating. Perfect for aspiring directors, writers, camera ops, sound recordists, or anyone curious about the filmmaking process. This free trial is your opportunity to see what we do, meet like-minded creatives, and build skills that actually stick. 📅 Spaces are limited – RSVP now to secure your spot! Let’s make something great together.

📍 EH12 5BA

Looking to meet new people and share laughs and good nights out? Then this is the group for you. There are no age limits on this group as it’s about who you are, not whether you’re mature for your age or young at heart! Other events such as live music, theatre, cinema and dinners will also be part of this group. \\Please Note - this group does not give priority waitlist to Meetup+ members. This is a fee paid to Meetup who do not share with organisers. This group operates fairly and will allocate and spaces in the order people join a waitlist \\ So, come join us and Social Eyes…. Rules:- Be kind No bad ‘isms’ or ‘phobias’ will be tolerated (eg. Racism, homophobia). You will be ejected from the group No harassment of other members will be tolerated. You will be ejected from the group If you cancel last minute or just don’t turn up you will be ejected from the group. Please remember that organisers of all groups give up their time to arrange these events and, whilst circumstances do arise when people can’t make something last minute, it is rude to sign up and take up a space if you never intend to attend - especially where numbers are limited. We are all nice people though so please cancel your space before published cut offs. Spam messaging to other group members will not be tolerated. You will be ejected from the group. You must have a clear photo of yourself on your profile so that you can be recognised at events. If you continually sign up for events (6 times) and cancel within 48 hours of the event it will be assumed that you have no intention of attending events and you will be removed from the group. There will be regular checks and anyone who has not visited the group page within 6 months will be assumed to no longer wish to attend events and will be removed. This will ensure a realistic number and active membership. Please put your notifications on - if you do not notice you have a space or see cut off messages or important info - ignorance is no excuse. It also keeps you informed of new events so you can get a space before full or sold out.

UnScene Girls in Edinburgh

Fri
📅 26 Jun 2026
