Join me on this linear walk from Balerno to Hillend. A good level of fitness is required to attend so you should be mindful of that before you sign up as you will need to maintain the pace of the walk. To sign up for the walk you must have a profile photo of yourself visible, if you have not then you yo will be moved to the "not going" list. The number 44 will take you to the meeting point, aim to get the bus that arrives at 09:56. The 44 can often run late so if so the walk will start when this bus arrives. We will walk from Cockburn Crescent up to Harlaw and enter the Park from there, we will then head towards Black hill and walk around it to Green Cleugh. From here we will head for Harbour Hill past two reservoirs. We will have a 30 minute break, possibly before heading up Harbour Hill and the three hills beyond it, Capelaw, Allermuir, and Caerketton, before finishing at Hillend. walking boots or shoes are recommended for the walk, and you should dress accordingly for the weather. Bring yourself a packed lunch and some water. finally, each walker is responsible for their own well being and safety

Like to run? Keen to meet new people that don't take themselves too seriously? Join us for a gentle run, followed by a drink and a chat at the pub. This is our regular Tuesday night session. We'll do a 5k loop which takes us around Leith Links and the Restalrig Railway Path, after which we'll head to Malone's on Constitution Street, just along from the starting point. Bag drop is permitted here if you have things you'd like to leave during the run. This is a relaxed, social run where you are invited to run at your own pace and we aim to have a back marker at each run. For everyone’s safety, particularly during the darker months, we try to choose a route which is well lit, easy to follow and as car free as possible. However, some small sections can still be dark so please dress for visibility if you can, and head torches are a definite bonus. Here's our run - Meet us at the Robert Burns statue on Bernard Street/Constitution Street at 6:30pm for a 6:35pm start. Boring disclaimer: You participate in EdinBar Runners events at your own risk. The organisers accept no liability for any personal injury or damage to personal property incurred at our events, no matter how they occur.

Exploring nature in Edinburgh

Mon
📅 29 Jun 2026
📍 EH16 6NL

Welcome nature lovers! I enjoy learning and sharing my knowledge about birds, mammals, fungi, trees, wildflowers, insects, foods to forage and everything in between. Nature kept me going during lockdown. I find being outdoors calming and always feel better for it and I want other people to experience this too. My passion is for people to see nature in all its awe and glory and for this to inspire them in their personal lives too. I love to show people hidden gems that they walk passed every day, be that a stunning moth, elm tree blossom, an orchid or a fungi of the mushroom type! People are often amazed at what they overlook and I love to surprise them. I engage them with nature’s wonders and fire up their curiosity. The list is endless and this is why I love it some much as I discover and learn something new every day! My specialist subject is birds of the feathered type! I have lots of stories to tell about bugs’ lives, the soap opera of birds and how trees communicate with each other etc…. come along and meet new people and learn new things! I am starting up my nature connection walks again. A bit about my background: Various support work jobs Counselling course Ecosycology course Trauma informed practice Mental health first aid On the nature connection walks we will do various exercises/experiences. Grounding exercise, land art, nature connection experiences, connecting with our senses, silent walking, sharing our experiences (always optional) amoungst other things. Any questions just message me. As much as I love pets, they scare off the wildlife so please leave them at home for the walks, thanks

WE ARE A FRIENDLY AND WELCOMING GROUP. This group is for anyone and everyone who loves walking no matter what their ability. However, we want it to hopefully be more than just a walking group and take it one step beyond by incorporating more of the social aspect too by throwing in some other activities and events which will be combined with our walks or are completely separate events in their own right. After all, as they say, variety is the spice of life and your never too old to learn something new :-). So come join us, would love to see you and hopefully, some of the braver amongst you will also come live life on the edge with us and walk some of our more how can we put it LOL unchartered routes along the way LOL!!!!. FEES AND CHARGES This is a non-profit making group and it will remain that way for as long as we run the group. However, there is a Membership joining fee of £2. - It is a ONE OFF joining fee you DO NOT pay anything for attending walks etc. We am hoping that we can get enough members to join up that the joining fees from members will pay for the meetup charges to run the group on the site for the foreseeable future, and therefore hope that this will be a one off fee. However, in the event of a shortfall, we may do a whip round of members NOT more than once a year for a £1 contribution to go towards the meetup charges to help keep the group going. All finances and income of the group will be transparent and any member is welcome to ask to see the financial affairs of the group at any given time, this group belongs to us all and therefore we all share the same rights within the group.\ Our role as organisers is purely to administer and facilitate the running of the group. ORGANISERS Currently, there are 7 organisers in the group. However, we would love it if anyone else fancies coming on board and organise some events of their own. All we would ask is that you make these events FREE. Any charges must purely be from a third party ie like a venue charge, or charge for a show etc, or entry fee. No one is allowed to make any money from hosting an event in this group. The other commitment we would ask is that you host a minimum of 1 event every 3 months. Please contact us if you have any questions or suggestions, or would like to chat about becoming an organiser. We would love to have you on board.
