We’ve been invited back! Always set ti Bea lovey morning, come help the Bath Organic Group with some general gardening tasks. Usually involves compost or mulching, but it could be anything! There will be a tea break, as BOG very kindly provide a hot drink and cake and biscuits. Please bring your own gardening gloves. If you are not running to the task, wellies or sturdy boots are recommended.

Cleveland Pools is the country's oldest open air swimming pool. It opened in 1815 and was hugely popular until competition from Bath Sports and Leisure Centre led to its closure in 1984. The need for a venue for outdoor swimming and a desire to save the historic buildings led to a major campaign to save it. It was successful and the baths reopened in September 2023 only for flooding in January 2024 to damage the plant machinery and main pool. It has been closed ever since but volunteers have been allowed back on site to tidy up - bringing hope that the pools could be back in use at some point. That's where GoodGym comes in. We helped out at Cleveland Pools before it reopened in 2023 - and now we are keeping it neat and tidy. Jobs include clearing weeds, sweeping up leaves from the children's pool, washing down walls, ironmongery, doorways to changing cubicles and the ground floor areas inside the cottage, cleaning the terrace kitchen, the interpretation room, and the communal WCs that have suffered flood detritus. Please bring gloves - other equipment will be provided. Extra risks to be aware of: Take care on steep slippery slopes, paths, uneven surfaces and where there are trip hazards. There is the potential of falling into the pools. A step ladder may be used in the children's pool, which may be slippery. Watch out for dog/animal waste and advise others. Be careful when using tools and return them safely after use. Note: The entrance to the Pools is between two houses on Hampton Row. The path is quite narrow and leads to a very steep slope.

Working with Grow for Life so they can increase their work in therapeutic horticulture and help more people who are suffering with anxiety, depression and isolation. They will provide tools, please bring gloves. The task may involve painting their new potting shed so dress appropriately! Use What3Words to find the address; ///amazed.surround.paraded The postcode is BA2 9DA, but if you follow satnav that will take you through the village to the house rather than the walled garden. Directions; left turn at the top of the Pennyquick hill. Continue along the road for 100m, then its the turning on left before the high wall that runs along the road. If you don’t make the turn into the yard, you’ll end up at the Farm Shop, which is no bad thing, they do good coffee! There is space to park in the yard next to the Walled Garden and they have a portaloo, and running water.

Meeting for a short run to the Mission - 09:45 at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre if you are running, or 10:00 at Sydney Gardens - find us on the larger of the two bridges over the Railway. The Volunteer Team at Sydney Gardens have a long list of tasks for us to help with throughout the year, from planting bulbs to reinvigorating the sand in the play area. This wonderful oasis of calm in the centre of Bath continues to be supported by a large volunteer community and we are privileged to be part of it.

Bath City farm is a living, working farm and visitor attraction and charity. They provide education, training and therapeutic activities to people in the local community. They would like our help with farm activities, from weeding, moving soil and manure and if you are lucky we get to cuddle some of the farm animals afterwards. Please come prepared for any of the eventualities above, gloves are handy (although communal gloves will be provided), and you may want legs covered. For those meeting for the run please be out the front of the Moorfields Pub at 10am for a run up the HILL, if not then head straight to the mission for 10:30 for an hour and a half session and coffee afterwards.
