Luton Wardown Parkrun is a weekly 5k event that gets 100s of participants, and it's all made possible by the efforts of a few volunteers who get out of bed extra early so everyone else can enjoy a well organised free event. Help the Hi-Vis Heroes We are going to give those regular volunteers the opportunity to take a break or enjoy some company, while we take on as many of the volunteer roles as we can and show all those runners what GoodGym is all about in the process. It's win-win for everyone involved. Important note: Before signing up here on the Goodgym site, please do the following: Please check the parkrun volunteer roster ( and choose which position you'd like to fill and let the parkrun team know by emailing (mailto:). All volunteers will receive instruction on their role on arrival. If you're not already, you will need to register with parkrun ( so they can record your name on the roster. The parkrun team will need to know that you’re coming so please sign up for this mission only once you have confirmed that you’re on the parkrun team’s roster.

We have been asked to help with the Job Fair, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where people from the public will be coming to find out about different job opportunities and to speak to employers. GoodGymers are asked to be on hand to greet the people attending the fair, to help them sign in and to show them to where they need to go. You will need to be confident in speaking in English to members of the public. Please wear your red GoodGym shirts as it helps us to be easily identifiable as volunteers and helpers. You will need to be confident speaking in English to the people who attend. Matt Johnson will meet us at the community centre and give you guidance to the tasks. Volunteers can also speak to the employers and see what might be available for them if they are job hunting. GoodGymers will need to make their own arrangements to get to the venue.

Race for Life is a huge event that brings hundreds of people together to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Research UK. They’re looking for helpers to cheer on participants, marshal the course, help with set up and pack down, litter picking and everything in between. Could this be you? Join Katherine from the Wildlife Trust at this session to remove invasive Himalayan Balsam plants from the riverbanks and make space for native species. This will help preserve the precious chalk stream habitat. The team are meeting in Lewsey Sports Centre car park at 10am and will then go down to work by the river at the bottom of the hill so if you're running late you will hopefully find them there. The area you'll be working in has a lot of stinging nettles so long trousers and sleeves will be best.

We have been asked to help organise participants at the Colour Run 2026. Starting just after parkrun finishes, we need to keep people in the right sections/starting points and help with traffic management if needed. Most of our help will be needed before the event starts - working with both parkrun and colour run organisers to keep everyone in the right plae at the right time. Help appreciated from 08:30 until 11:00 ps - no need to register on eventbrite - this is just a stock photo of the event pps - if you also want to do the litter pick in Peoples Park at 10:00 the same day, that can work too...just leave the Colour Run task in time to get to Peoples Park. What a busy day!

Wednesday evening group sessions are all about coming together as a big team and heading out together to a practical task out in the community. This week we're heading to the riverside Stockingstone Meadow to have another go at removing the invasive Goldenrod plants that have infested this site We'll work as a group to pull up the distinctive plants and make space for a greater diversity of native wildflower species. The site has seen massive improvement thanks to previous efforts in past years, but we need to keep going to finish it off! We'll meet up at 6:45 at the outdoor stage opposite the Hat Factory on Bute Street, where we say hi to eachother and warm up for the run. Walkers are welcome. We might send you off a bit early so we arrive at similar times but the task isn't very far from the start point so it'll be fine.

Last Sunday of every month is the Dallow Downs and Winsdon Hill litter pick. A one hour litter blitz in a rather large and heavily littered area so there will be plenty for everyone! There's lots of wildlife on the downs that will benefit from a cleaner environment, including badgers 🦡 and hedgehogs 🦔 as well as the trees and grassland.
