This adult and child pottery class is a relaxed fun introduction to clay. Children should be aged 5+. We will introduce you to making simple pottery projects in a relaxed and creative way, and have plenty of ideas to inspire you if you need them but you are welcome to come and make anything you like. The cost includes a two hour session for an adult and child. All materials and firing costs are included. If you are new to pottery but don't know where to start / want a fun first throwing pottery experience then this is the class for you. In a small class of up to 5 students, you'll start with the preparation of clay, then following a demonstration by the tutor, you will begin your own throwing, guided and supported at all the stages. You will have a wheel each for the full length of the lesson and this gives you the ability to focus on and immerse yourself in the whole experience. As this is just a 2 hour taster session, you can make as many pots as you can manage and then you can choose your 3 best pots. A class just for glazing. If you've been to a taster session and wanted to glaze your work yourself or need to catch up on glazing from weekly sessions at the Clay Half, you can do that here. With guidance from one of our experienced pottery tutors you will have a couple of hours to use our range of in house glazes and underglazes to decorate and finish your work. We then re-fire it before it's ready to collect, this is usually done within a week of the glaze class you attended.

The Clay Half pottery class is a relaxed clay session enabling students to develop skills over as many sessions as they attend. Taking your Hand Building or Wheel Throwing further. These are our pottery classes for students with some experience. An experienced tutor is there to teach, support and supervise all students whilst they work on their own projects. A level of self-led working is expected and necessary, but you have support and guidance on hand in planning and carrying out your projects when needed. NOTE : The individual cost per class is reduced the more you book at once (4-7 weekly classes = 5% discount; 8+ = 10% discount) automatically applied at checkout or u can buy a class pass which gives you more flexibility with your dates. This applies to Weekly Wednesday/Thursday classes only. This is a small class of 6 maximum, intended to enable you to use the skills you have gained at a beginner/intermediate block of classes or multiple taster sessions and take them further, making your own projects with guidance on most suitable techniques from the tutor. You can choose to attend any number of sessions, but we recommend at least a couple so that you can make and glaze or throw and turn your pots, developing your pottery skills is all about regular practice so the more the better and regular attendance will develop your technique, so come for a few weeks, months or even years it's up to you!
