Hiking Manchester

Wed
📅 19 Aug 2026
📍 M3 3AP

We are a walking, hiking and scrambling group formed in Autumn 2018 with a laid back attitude. Although we are based in Manchester and the North West of England, we put on a range of events from short local walks to all day hikes in the Lake District, Peak District, Yorkshire and North Wales. Walks are graded as easy, moderate and hard. The grading depends on factors such as the terrain, distance, feet of ascent/descent and the speed of the walk. Please check the descriptions carefully. We welcome new members, new walk leaders and event organisers. We are not professional guides and all walks are on a not for profit basis.  Twitter <br> Facebook  Instagram <br> Please treat event leaders with the same respect you would a friend you were meeting. ‘No showing’ has several negative effects- it prevents someone on the waiting list attending the event, the group is left waiting for you to arrive and ultimately event leaders are disheartened and stop running walks. Please alter your RSVP if you cannot make an event. The group policy is that 3 ‘no shows’ results in a member being removed from the group.

We are an inclusive LBT+ walking group based in West Yorkshire and the North West! Whether you're here for the fresh air, the friendly company, or to connect with community, you’re in the right place. 🥾🌳 This is a safe and welcoming space for lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women, as well as non-binary people who feel a connection to the lesbian community. We value kindness, respect, and the joy of being outdoors together. If you’d like to host a walk, just let us know. 🙋‍♀️ We’re always happy to support members who want to get more involved. We look forward to walking with you soon! 🚶‍♀️🌈 👉 Please take a moment to read the group’s Code of Conduct and Ethos, detailed below. LBW Group Code of Conduct 🌈 £1 Meetup Fee 💷 A £1 fee per event applies to help support group costs. Participation at Your Own Risk ⚠️ By attending any LBW event, you acknowledge and accept the following: Personal Responsibility 🥾 All participants take part at their own risk. Walks may be physically demanding and carry inherent risks. You are responsible for assessing your own fitness, health, and ability to participate. Bring appropriate clothing, footwear, and equipment (e.g., boots, waterproofs, map, compass), along with any required medication, food, and drink. Volunteer Hosts 🙋‍♀️ Our hosts are unpaid volunteers, not professional leaders or first aiders. They accept no liability for accidents, injuries, or losses. RSVP & Event Attendance 📅 Only members registered on Meetup who have RSVP’d and been accepted may attend. Guests or “plus ones” are not permitted unless they are also registered and RSVP’d. If you RSVP “Yes” and later cannot attend, you must update your RSVP. Failure to update your RSVP for three events may result in removal from the group. Anyone not RSVP’d may be asked to leave. Punctuality ⏰ Events will start promptly at the advertised time. Hosts are not expected to wait for late arrivals. Please aim to arrive 10–15 minutes early. Dog Policy 🐾 Dogs must be under close control and on a lead where required. Legal responsibility for dogs lies with the owner. Hosts have the final say on whether leads are necessary. Leaving the Group Mid-Walk 🚶‍♀️➡️ If you choose to leave early, you must inform the host. Failure to do so may lead to emergency services being contacted unnecessarily. In Case of Emergency 🚨 Be prepared to provide the following: Location (grid reference or what3words) Name, gender, and age of the casualty Nature of the emergency Number of people in the group Your mobile number Then dial 999 or 112, ask for Police, then Mountain Rescue, and stay where you are until help arrives. Respect & Conduct 💬 Treat all members and hosts with kindness, encouragement, and respect. Aggressive behaviour, harassment, or disrespect will not be tolerated and may lead to removal from the group. Contact Information 📇 Please ensure your Meetup profile includes up-to-date emergency contact details. \-\-\- Safeguarding and Identity Integrity 🛡️ Creating a safe environment for both our walk leaders and members is paramount. We are committed to maintaining a group where everyone feels respected, secure, and supported. Fake profiles — including individuals misrepresenting themselves, or misusing non-binary or inclusive identities to falsely gain access to women-centred spaces — will result in immediate removal from the group 🚫. If the leadership team notices any red flags 🚩—regardless of how someone identifies—we will take further safeguarding steps before admitting them into the group. It would be irresponsible not to take reasonable precautions, the importance of maintaining safety and trust within our community is our priority 👣💬. Members may be asked to answer additional security or identity-related questions. These steps are not intended to exclude genuine individuals but are necessary to preserve the purpose and integrity of our space. Walk leaders have the right to deny access to individual members on walks they are hosting if they feel that the group dynamic may be negatively impacted or that a participant’s presence could lead to upset or conflict or impact the safety of members and walk leaders. The wellbeing and safety of the group always comes first. If you have a reason for your safety not to show your face in your profile photo, please contact the leadership team so we can discuss an alternative approach that respects your privacy while maintaining group security. \-\-\- 📸 Photography on Walks We love capturing memories on our walks, but we also care deeply about everyone's comfort and safety. ✅ Please always ask permission before taking photos of fellow members. ✅ Do not share photos of members outside of our official Meetup page or Facebook group without their explicit permission. \-\-\- This group is specifically for lesbian and bisexual women, transgender wo
