This is a relaxed meetup, perfect if you fancy some fresh air, friendly conversation, and a chance to meet new people. Welcome to Hike & Get Merry We are a friendly bunch of people who love hiking and getting outdoors. We offer a range of walks throughout the year to suit all abilities and experience. We also hold social events and organise walking weekends away through the summer which are great fun. Recently we held a Hike Walking Festival which combined the hiking with social/drinks and games. It was a great success, and we're repeating the day this year in a different area. How it works: · Take a look at our calendar of events and join the waitlist for a walk or event. · Pay over the hike fee · The organiser will then move you on to the going list and you’re set to go We don’t charge a membership fee but make a small charge per walk. This is to cover Meetup costs, insurance and the group organisers expenses. We arrange a BRISK walk every Saturday morning, followed by a pub lunch. The hikes will generally involve walking up some hills and climbing over stiles, so please only sign up if you enjoy good general health! Walks are for a maximum of 20 adults and the list for the next weeks walk generally opens on Saturday afternoon. We cater primarily for SINGLES and the age profile tends to be 40 + with no upper limit, provided you are physically fit. It is NOT a dating site, but it is a great way to meet like-minded people and have a good chat in beautiful surroundings. It is important to have appropriate gear (including a waterproof, even when the forecast is good!) and carry some spare layers. A drink and an energy snack is also a good idea - we will have a break for this during the walk. Sturdy & comfortable footwear is recommended, even at the height of summer, as we may use muddy and overgrown footpaths. Please feel free to contact Chris D via the website if you need assistance with this. The charge for a walk is £3.00 and this covers the website fees and admin costs, but this is a non-profit-making group. We require a recognisable photo of the applicant with any new application, please. This helps us to recognise new participants and could prove invaluable in the unlikely event of a walker going missing, for example. I regret we are unable to allow owners to bring their dogs on these walks.
