Leeds CHA Walkers Syllabus January to June 2026 ✅ About Us \- What we’re about This is a group for anyone interested in walking who would enjoy exploring the Yorkshire Dales, the Pennines and beyond. The group is part of Leeds CHA Rambling & Social Club ( ) but these walks are open to all. ✅ Contacts We started this Meetup group to meet other outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy walking and may like to consider joining the club. We do not charge any fee for the first three walks but if you wish to continue then you would need to join the club and pay the annual subscription (currently £6) which would enable full membership – including access to Club weekends away. ✅ Walks We run a range of walks: Sunday ‘A’ Walks - usually strenuous full day walks around 13 to 17 miles. Sunday ‘B’ Walks - less strenuous, maximum 12 miles but typically around 9 to 11 miles. Sunday ‘C’ Walks - gentle walks, not more than 8 miles. Saturday Walks - normally around 7 to 8 miles taken at a steady pace. Saturday ‘D’ Walks - round about 5 miles, with very little ascent - taken at a leisurely pace. Sunday Coach Outings – usually combine ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ walks, and may also be joined by those who simply wish to enjoy a day out in the town or area being visited. ✅ Our Programme of Walks & Other Activities The above link will take you to our full syllabus for the year on our web site. ✅All the above walks are at weekends. If you want to walk mid-week you will find plenty of options at our associate site on Meetup MidWeekWayfarers . ✅ Practical Aspects ✅ We try to limit the size of walks t

It is only common courtesy and takes only a second to keep your RSVP up to date and add an event to your calendar on your phone :) Make no mistake, we will delete you! It is simply not fair to keep the whole group waiting to begin an event when we believe you are coming - particularly on a walk or meal ! Please let us know, we understand "life happens" but we are not mind-readers! Please participate in our real life events as much as you can - be active, be kind, be positive. Thank you! There are lots of great walking groups on meetup in the Yorkshire region. So what do you need to know about us? Most of our walks are led by our regular members. In 2022 we had 14 different leaders (+3 as some were organised by couples.) This means we offer the walks that our walk leaders want to do - if you want something different, offer to lead. We encourage all our members to have a try at leading or back marking once they have got to know the level we walk at. Currently - Spring 2023 - most of our walks are between 5 and 8 miles and not usually difficult, taken at a steady pace. We try and give information about the difficulty and speed needed in the walk description. We usually walk in West Yorkshire but sometimes go further afield in the summer. In the summer months we also offer evening walks and slower walks for those who find our regular pace difficult. We are a group for adults but we do hold occasional walks when children are welcomed. If you would like to bring your child on a walk which is not listed as Children Welcome please contact the organisers rather than the walk leader. We generally walk on the first and third Saturdays of the month but it depends when our walk leaders are free. Dogs are welcome on our walks unless stated otherwise but please be considerate of other walkers and keep your dog under close control when there is livestock present. Some walks may be on lead only according to the conditions and the walk leader's preference. IMPORTANT We do have an active membership policy and we remove members who do not meet the following conditions: As of 1.1.13 Conditions of membership: -attend 1 walk within 6 months of joining \- attend 1 walk per year thereafter \- visit the site at least once every 6 months \- don't no\-show \(fail to change your RSVP or to text the walk leader to say you can’t attend\)\. 3 strikes and you will be removed There is usually a charge of £1 per walk which covers meetup charges and reccying costs. Any extra goes to two charities: YHA Breaks for Kids (giving disadvantaged kids a break in the countryside) and Holme Valley Mountain Rescue who cover a lot of our local area. Details of our finances are in the finances event folder created for each years finances. If you join our walks, you do so at your own risk. Our walk leaders are not qualified and we have no insurance. If you want to be insured - try the Ramblers! Privacy. This group is PUBLIC. This means that all comments and all photographs can be seen by anyone anywhere in the world. Please DO NOT post phone numbers when arranging lifts. Use the messaging system instead. Don't forget basic safety precautions when arranging a lift with someone you don't know. (Last update by Christine on 28.1.2023)

It’s for anyone who walks on their own or with their dog and would like to meet other people to go on walks with. GROUP RULES 1\. When you join the group and RSVP to a walk you agree to the above\. 2\. You don’t need to be a dog owner to come on the walks\, but it’s better if you’re a dog lover :\-\) as there maybe some dogs that get under feet etc\. Anyone who brings a dog needs to be sure their dog is well socialised and non aggressive\. 3\. Anyone who RSVP’s to a walk\, doesn’t show and doesn’t change their status to “Not Going” will be blocked permanently from the group\. 4\. Anyone who RSVP’s to a walk and changes their status to “Not Going” less than 2 days before the start time of the event will be flagged as a “No Show”\.
