Fabulous over 40s

Thu
📅 2 Jul 2026
📍 CF10 1DY

This is Fabulous over 40s - known as FABs - Fun, friendship and laughter is the motto of our group. Please read the following information, i know it's a bit long but there's important information and when you sign up, you are agreeing to this. We love meeting up for coffee & a chat, evenings out, meals, theatre, cinema, walks, weekends away and holidays, the possibilities are endless. We are based in South Wales and a lot of our events are in the Vale and Cardiff areas. The group is run by volunteers, we put on events that we hope members will enjoy. Adding events sometimes take time in pre-planning and contacting venues or visiting places beforehand to check they are suitable. We try not to have more than one event per day, but this will be inevitable as it depends on the organizers' own diaries and event dates. With this in mind, we expect RSVPs to be kept up to date and changed in good time if you find you can't come to an event. Anyone with 2 no-shows may be asked to leave the group as its not fair on the hosts, the venues and to fellow members who are on the waiting list and then can't attend. We are a not-for-profit group and make donations to charities using any money left over from subs and events that are put on for charity collection, that aren't used to pay PayPal, meetup and other incidental fees. Membership is open to all, as long as you're over 40. We are NOT a dating site but if you are looking to meet new people, expand your social circle and make lasting friendships, why not read on and find out more... Every member is able to suggest an event and/or Host an event, infact, we encourage it! If you have an idea you can almost guarantee there will be another member who wants to join in. one of the team will work with you, or will organize it for you. There are currently 6 members on the Leadership team - Carrie is the organizer; Michele, Jan, Catrin, Mark and Dawn are event organizers. As with all groups, there has to be some rules, so although it can be boring reading them, please take the time as this will give you a complete overview and understanding of the group. Our Membership Policy: Membership fees: The cost of becoming a full member (Known as FAB'S from this point) will be £9 per annum from Jan 2025, which will be pro-rata in the first year. These fees go towards the cost, upkeep, PayPal charges, and maintenance of the site & any costs that are incurred in arranging events. New members joining from Jan 2025 will pay pro-rata until the end of their first year (equivalent to 75p per month). Membership Subscriptions are due one month after your joining date. Hopefully, you will have attended at least one event, which will help you to decide if the group is right for you. If you have not attended an event, you will still have to pay the subscription to remain. If you do not pay the subscription, we will assume that Fabulous over 40s is not right for you and your membership will end. You are welcome to bring a guest with you to an event when allowed, as long as they are over 40, but if that guest attends more than 3 events, they will be asked to join and pay the annual subscription fee. PLEASE NOTE you don't need to say 'not attending' to any event as long as you RSVP 'yes ' when wanting to attend anything, please keep your RSVPs up to date and pay deposits promptly please.========================================================================================================. Deposits for Events/Paying for an Event From now on all meals will normally be limited to 14 members and we will request a deposit, a minimum of £10 refundable against your meal. LIVEN UP YOUR SOCIAL LIFE AND MEET NEW FRIENDS Cardiff Friends and Social is a multi-activities group for people in their 40s/50s/60s (though most of us think we’re a bit younger...). We are about meeting people, making new friends, sharing our interests and trying out new things. We have a varied programme with activities such as theatre, cinema, live music, walks, badminton, pub nights and weekends away. We arrange trips abroad: recent ones have included Lisbon, Porto and Vienna. We are a not-for-profit group run by our members. The club is also part of a nationwide organisation of about 40 similar groups (the Association of IVCs) and we join in with them at their events. You are welcome to join us!
