Thoughtworks Newcastle Events

18+Thu
📅 30 Apr 2026
📍 NE1 6AF

REGISTRATION via Thoughtworks website NECESSARY - follow this link Join us at the Thoughtworks Newcastle office for an interactive event dedicated to fostering a strong community of tech specialists. Based on our shared dedication to technical excellence, this event aims to create opportunities for connection, learning, and empowerment through the exchange of ideas and practices. Why should you attend? We’ll explore why the "long way around" often leads to the most profound truths in tech. In this session built for boundary-breakers, we move beyond the "specialist trap" to discuss how groundbreaking innovation requires the expert generalist. By embracing a cross-functional perspective, you’ll learn how to bridge silos and uncover creative solutions that narrow roles often miss.We will also dive into the ethics of efficiency, discussing how intentional friction provides the "moral pause" necessary for accountable decision-making in high-stakes systems. Discover why the most successful teams don't just follow the lines—they have the courage to blur them. The session will feature talks by Adam Hope, Hiral Hetherington and Thrupthi Prabhu, who will share insights on building career resilience through curiosity and a refusal to "stay in your lane. Reserve your spot today and join us for a session of learning, networking and inspiration. See you there! Come Together Newcastle

Sat
📅 27 Jun 2026
📍 NE8 2BH

This is a new post-covid group that is welcoming and designed to be both social and activity-centred. This is a place where people are positively encouraged to be themselves. Being true to yourself is the most important factor, bar none, when it comes to building solid long-lasting friendships. That is what we're here for. There will not be a long list of rules for either hosts or attendees. The only thing we ask is that you try to treat others with respect and use your own common sense, but more importantly, dont be afraid to take social risks and have fun with it. We are currently looking for more hosts to take the reigns, the aim is to bring as much variety as possible and even out the balance on our admin team. So if you want to have a go at hosting events we'd be delighted to upgrade your account. We are looking for more exciting and innovative people to make this group amazing. Any questions, or if you have any ideas and would like to become a host, get in touch with Rebecca Warwick (Bex) or Michelle Duggleby Let's gooo!!!!! Age range is 25-45 if people are miles off they will be removed, but they can still come to an event as one of our members plus 1.
