Have you heard the news about wines coming from Poland? Take this chance to be among the first in this country to try them! The current trend is towards 'cool climate wines' - witness the success of English and Welsh wines, for instance. Poland fits this profile perfectly. The Barczentewicz vineyard is located about 2 hours South-East of Warsaw, and benefits from a continental climate to aid in the ripening of the grapes. Kamil set up this winery, himself, planting all the vines over 12 Hectares of land in a special microclimate and boasting mineral terroir. The Vistula, one of Poland's principal rivers, is only 3 km away, and helps moderate the temperatures in the vineyards. Polish wines are gradually becoming available in this country, and a small number from this winery are included among them. However, Kamil Barczentewicz, the owner and winemaker, is travelling to Glasgow to be with us, this evening, and he will introduce us to his wines of note. Come and give a warm Scottish welcome to this star of Polish wine, enjoy his cool climate wines - and find out where to get your hands on them! This is going to be a great evening!

Glasgow Skeptics

All ages
📍 G2 6BZ

As skeptics, it's easy for us to warn people about the harms of alternative medicine at an individual level, but what can we do when quackery is being pushed by authorities, or when the problem is to widespread for a one-on-one approach? From NHS homeopathy to midwifery alt-med, via quack charities and dubious overseas cancer clinics, professional skeptical investigator Michael Marshall will explain how a dogged approach to analysing publicly-available data can help us understand what we're up against, and provide the media with the evidence they need to publish stories that make a difference. About the speaker: Michael Marshall is the Project Director of the Good Thinking Society, Editor of The Skeptic, and President of the Merseyside Skeptics Society. He regularly speaks with proponents of pseudoscience for the Be Reasonable podcast, and presents investigative reporting on the Skeptics with a K podcast. His work has seen him organising international homeopathy protests, going undercover to expose psychics and quack medics, and co-founding the popular QED conference. He has written for the Guardian, The Times, The New Statesman and New Scientist. Attendance is free. No ticket is required. We operate on a first come first served basis. It's relatively rare that we fill up the function room, but please be aware that if things are looking busy, the earlier you get there the less chance there is of not getting in. Although the event is free, we will be asking for donations at the end of the talk. Participants are under no obligation whatsoever to donate, however please rest assured that the money we collect doesn't end up in anyone's pocket - it is used to fund our overhead costs, and travel/accommodation for our speakers who come from further afield. Accessibility: The Admiral Woods Bar now has a functioning lift which can take wheelchair users (or others who are unable to manage stairs) down to the function room. There is also a disabled toilet in the function

The Empowered Empath

Welcome Powerful Soul! There's a great deal to FEEL in the world, and YOU FEEL it more than most. You may have been told that you're too sensitive or too dramatic, but actually there's nothing wrong with you.  🙌 You are DEEPLY GIFTED, and it's a true blessing to have your abilities 🙌You are a supreme treasure in the lives of everyone that you touch. 🙌Feeling that which remains a mystery to others is a SUPERPOWER I created this Meetup group as a place where empaths can gather and connect for understanding and support.  This is a place for you to be with people who actually 'get' you. Having walked my own path and supported many other empaths, there are many similar challenges to face that are part of the journey of the empath including things like boundary setting and channelling your power.  I set up this group to help you... 💜 Own Your Gifts 💜 Meet Your Specific Needs as a Sensitive Soul 💜 Live Your True Purpose Much love to you  Clare Bennett Coach and Therapist for Empaths

Break the Pattern – Confidence & Real Change Glasgow

Confidence & Real Change Glasgow

Sun
📍 G1 1QB

This meetup is for people who want real, lasting change… and are curious about why they keep getting in their own way. You might feel capable in many areas of your life, but notice certain patterns keep repeating. Overthinking. Hesitation. Second-guessing yourself. Holding back at the moments that matter. This isn’t about trying harder or pushing through. It’s about understanding how your unconscious mind and nervous system are shaping those patterns… and what actually allows them to shift. Each month, we explore simple, practical ideas from NLP, hypnosis, and nervous system work that help explain: why insight alone isn’t enough to create change why you can “know what to do” but still not do it how patterns begin to change in a way that feels natural, not forced These sessions are experiential. That means you won’t just hear information… you’ll notice things for yourself through guided exercises, reflection, and simple processes you can actually feel working. Some meetups will focus on topics like: overthinking and mental loops confidence and self-trust habits and procrastination speaking up and being seen Others will follow what people in the room need most. This is also a space for connection. You’ll be around people who are more similar to you than you might expect… even if no one says much out loud. You don’t need any experience with NLP or hypnosis. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just bring a bit of curiosity… and an openness to something different. Most people leave feeling clearer, calmer… and a little more like themselves again.
