Sheffield IVC is a friendly and informal social club offering a wide variety of social, cultural and sporting events. Please note the following points before you join. 1\. Prospective members are allowed to attend 3 events after which we will request a yearly fee of £10\. The fee may be reduced if your first event was late in the membership year\. 2\. Upon joining\, prospective members should upload a profile picture to their account if they have not already done so\. This assists the event host in identifying and welcoming you\. Failure to upload a profile photo may result in membership being declined or withdrawn\. 3\. If you have booked onto an event and subsequently find that you cannot attend you should please change your RSVP as soon as possible\, whether you are on the event or the waitlist\. If something unforeseen happens on the day please message the event host or leave a comment\. Failure to do so will mean you will be classed as a "No show"\. The club reserves the right to withdraw membership should any member incur three "No Shows" with no reason\. 4\. Wherever practically possible most of our hosts manage waitlists to ensure that the first on the waitlist is the first to get any place that arises on an event regardless of Meetup status \(priority or otherwise\)\. 5\. Please respect the event hosts\. They are volunteers and give their time and organisation freely for the enjoyment of members\. The host\(s\) has/have final say over numbers on events\, venues etc\. 6\. Sheffield IVC is affiliated to the Association of Intervarsity Clubs\. A website is currently under construction to let members know of national events and details will be provided in due course\.

Hey! If you're looking to get out, meet new people, and have a good time, come join us! It will hopefully be at least slightly better than doing nothing. This is a relaxed, casual meetup where you can come as you are, grab a drink, and enjoy some good conversation. The goal is to keep it weekly and build a friendly, welcoming crowd over time. Everyone is welcome, the only real requirement is open mindedness. Hope to see you there!

Sheffield Escapes – weekends away, day trips & more

Welcome to our group! Although it wasn't by design, the core membership of this group tends to be 40+ and a lot of ladies - although we do welcome gents and younger folk to join us on our adventures! The main purpose of this group forming was to take advantage of cheap flights when we can, and enjoy short breaks during the off season, when hotel rates are also at their lowest. We can also enjoy days out, weekend breaks in the UK and other get togethers when not traveling! This is NOT a business venture - just taking advantage of my experience and skills. I (Sandra) am a retired travel consultant with 20 years experience of living and working in Greece. MEMBERSHIP Due to increasing charges for the use of the Meetup platform, there is an annual membership fee of £10, payable each October. New members can sample 2 local events free of charge. If they have not participated in any events within 6 months, they must pay membership or will be removed from the group. Any surplus funds once charges have been paid (currently around £165 every 6 months) will be ploughed back into events. A FEW RULES We do not accept members without a personal portrait photo in their profile - we like to see who we are meeting! This is NOT a dating group and any complaints of unwanted attention from other group members will be taken seriously and dealt with accordingly. When you RSVP to an event it means that you have checked and entered it into your diary and have every intention of attending. It does not mean "I will put my name down for this but will cancel at the last minute if something better comes along". We know that life happens and plans can change, but serial last minute cancellations and no shows can result in being removed from the group. It is not fair to other members or to organizers, particularly when tables have been booked and members who wanted to go did not find a place. This is a group for mature adults who are responsible for themselves and will take all necessary precautions when traveling abroad. Whilst I don't expect everyone to want to do the same thing or explore at the same pace, if you do go off and do your own thing I will ask that we exchange numbers so we can keep track of each other and check on each others safety. THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN JOINING AN OVERSEAS TRIP All members would need to take care of their own flights – when I see cheap flights available I will publish details but all will be responsible for booking their own seats. Plans would be based mostly on flights from/to Manchester. If another airport suits you better and you find flights available that is fine BUT if your arrival and departure times do not coincide with the Manchester flight times, you may have to make your own way to/from the hotel. TRAVEL INSURANCE - it is recommended you arrange your own personal travel insurance, particularly if you have any medical issues.

Tatle Tale is a Sheffield-based creative project offering workshops, classes, and community sessions for adults (18+) to encourage intergenerational connection and overall wellbeing. We create slow spaces not because speed is wrong, but because so many of us have never been given permission to stop. Inspired by the fable of the Tortoise and the Hare, it reconsiders what it means to move through the world at different speeds. The story has long been read as a lesson in discipline, but here it becomes a way of thinking about pace, attention, and self-awareness. What happens when we stop asking people to keep up, and instead create space for different rhythms to coexist? Through a series of workshops, participants aged 18 and over, alongside local artisans from different generations, come together to share stories, exchange skills, and create collectively. More than workshops, these gatherings are an invitation to belong, to sit beside strangers, make something slowly, and discover the warmth that can emerge when people create together without judgement or expectation.
